... or does the thought of a Miami Vice movie disturb anyone else?

What's next?  A-Team?  Bosom Buddies?  Some ideas should just never be brought to Hollywood, ya know?

"Snakes on a Plane" scares me more.

after seeing Tom Hanks as the "older gentleman" in The DaVinci Code......personally I would kinda like to see him in drag again......

Hate to tell ya Dustyn, but they have been working on a script for 'A-Team' off and on for years, they cannot get 'good' actors or the ones they want to sign onto the project. 'Bosom Buddies' was a good launch for Tom Hanks, just like 'Popeye' and 'Mork and Mindy' were great platforms for Robin Williams.

Bytheway, what was 'Miami Vice' {looks for hiding spot so those who remember that show won't be able to find me}

Yep, I completely agree and there should be an agreed amount of time between remakes.

I have been saying this for a few years now. The Hollywood movie industry should be called what it truly is... an industry that is running out of ideas. There are movies that should not be remade just for the sake of remaking them (or for the profit margins as well). If you do remake a movie you take a bad film and make it better not a good film and try to improve on that.

The problem is that we, as the consumers of the film medium, are suckers. We will go see, or if not in the theater, rent these films. We are the ones supporting this trend. Old movies have a certain charm to them even if the effects (which at the time were the state of the art) were cheesy. Granted that things have come a long way as far as effects go, but effects do not make a movie, story does. You can have spectacular effects and a weak story and it will still be a weak story. I may sound harsh but this is the sad truth. Mainstream film offerings just do not have an abundance of new ideas and so Hollywood looks into the past for previous ideas they think will sell.

I am very selective in the movies that I see in the theater. I am also a harsh but fair critic. I haven't had much to say that has been good about recent films.

Don't blame it on Hollywood, they can only work with what they have, blame it on talented writers. Where have they disappeared?

Although I have to say that some remakes are wonderful. I hated the first Willy Wonka and I loved the second. You should SEE the cool Johnny Depp/Wonka figurines one of my admirers brought me. He is 20" tall and so unbelievably COOL!!!!!!!!

Oh, I know that they have been working on an 'A-Team' movie for the last decade, but at least it is currently shelved permantently.

And Miami Vice was a very cheesy 80's cop 'drama'.  The best part of it was the theme song, which was the first theme song to reach the top of the billboards, or at least I think so.
