FR There have been some articles on being too clean. It seems that if you are never exposed to any germs you won't be immune to them. I am a slob, I don't wash cuts or anything. I probably have one hell of an immune system. I smell my hands, if they smell dirty I will wash them, and the only other time is before I handle food and that's because someone else might be eating it. By smelling dirty I mean lke if I work on a car or something or handle something filthy. Actually I do wash them after handling raw meat many times because they might feel greasy. I don't buy all this bullshit. Kids used to play in the mud, eat bugs and all this shit. Passing joints around five people swaps spit, which is technically sharing body fluids. None of this used to be a problem. The problem was getting it under the skin. But then there used to be blood brothers, remember that ? Cut the palms of your hands and rub them together. Even younger kids, ask an old hillbilly what a "shit eatin grin" really means. And people didn't drop dead. Now kids can't have a lemonade stand. It's all in how culture has changed, some say it vanished. We used to have things going on, and what I remember wasn't the half of it. We used to also have lawn mowers that could cut your arm off, and saws too. How many people actually did cut their arms off ? My table saw, the guard is so fucking intrusive you can't use the damn thing, needless to say it is not installed. Know what I do ? Keep away when I am sawing something. Recently I turned down a shaft on my lathe that was attached to a bar (like a "T") and the setup was awkward and very dangerous. There was no other way to do the job. Know what I did ? I watched my back and if anyone was approaching I would simply turn the machine off. Safety is another thing really, related but broader in scope. I think seat belts and air bags should be illegal. But there should be super reinforcements in the sides of cars. Lots of pointy things sticking out the dashboard. Then, when you Tbone someone you die and they are fine. Right now you are protected from your own stupidity. Same with germs. There are certain things that I wouldn't be so careless about. Of course, do you think I am stupid or something ? My buddy works for a major university, and while he hasn't and shouldn't, if he were to take me into one of those biolabs, they got levels y'know, I wouldn't fuck around. This shit is not natural. But just some dirt or something, who cares ? It's part of your environment and you know what happens to organisms that are not properly adapted to their environmnet. T^T
