I was discussing these,'third world' solutions with another yesterday and there the realisation came that when everything turns to shit in our world, i.e. energy becomes too expensive, it might be the third world that offers some solutions, and that because they have learned how to make useful aids from crap. He who I was discussing with, saw the very possible implementation of the coke bottle idea with his lifestyle, and that because he lives on a boat, a rather decrepit Fairey Fisherman connected to shore power. The idea crossed his mind to remove one of the mushroom vents and bung in a coke bottle for better interior lighting during the day at least. Heating is already a converted gas bottle wood burner. I also sent the ideas listed here to a hippy commune I am friends with, as they live in what is basically shacks and trailers and need ever comfort aid they can get for free, they have a wind turbine, but why waste electricity on daylight lighting. The water heater idea was well received and that primarily because some of them also when their growing season is stagnant, they spend that time in African countries at other organic farms, they may take the 'technology' there.
