Status: offline 		I *love* getting new admirers. It's great fun to see that word picked out in red when I open my inbox. I don't care if the person 'doing the admiring' is only keeping tabs on my profile - it officially says that person admires me, so that's what I choose to believe whether he/she likes it or not.

Hey mods, what about a 'haters' page - so that we can look at the latest person to decide that he or she thinks we're a total arse?

For some of us, the explosion of traffic to the haters page would likely result in the entire site overloading and shutting down.

Admirers are not the same as friends.  You have to approve friends.  Friendship is mutual.

I sometimes "admire" people, but I have never asked anyone for their permission first.  Frankly, I usually do it to bookmark a profile that I like that I might want to view again later.  By doing so, I don't think I'm harming the person in any way.  Not sure why they'd want prevent me from admiring them



I'm inclined to agree with Rochsub2009 here, if you consider what the actual function of it is, instead of Collar Me's terminology, it's simply a way for someone to bookmark you. C.M. has chosen the term "admirer" because, I believe, it sounds like a friendlier word.

So if it makes you feel less creepy, perhaps consider just reframing it mentally and say to yourself, "Oh another person 'bookmarked' me" and also, choose to ignore it. Truth be told? I have already seen & heard a lot more creepier stuff than C.M.'s terminology. Which has lead me to begin to develop a greater ability to ignore creepy people or creepy things they say, or creepy pics they show or send you. Still, there are a lot of cool people here I have found. They are smart, funny, clever & all in all a pretty interesting group, who I've learned a lot from so far. But you will always run into a few Creepy McCreepertons in the bunch. Best of luck in meeting some of the better ones, and Welcome to C.M.! :)
