newbiedave -> Anyone from Scotland? (9/19/2011 2:42:23 PM)

Hello, After recently deciding to come online and explore and learn more with BDSM that I have been interested in for some years now, but never had the urge to look for some local communities online.

I am from Scotland and looking to hopefully get to know some fellow Scottish people on here to ease myself into it all. I want to become more active in the lifestyle but don't know exactly where to start and how to go about it all. I know there are a few meets around Scotland, including Glasgow. But since I've never done this sort of thing before I don't like the idea of just showing up alone and knowing no-one or how things work etc..

Hopefully joining here I can get some guidance on it all, and hopefully get to know some other local Scottish people online and possibly offline. However I am not just looking for Scottish, but also to make friends online. Get to know others within the BDSM scene and most of all learn and experience many things.

Hi and welcome , dave!

Firstly, i'm not Scottish, though i do have Scottish ancestry, if that counts.

As for getting involved in your local scene, i would check out a site called Fetlife. Or just google the name of your city/town/etc. + bdsm munch. Munches are just casual gatherings to meet and talk with other bdsm folk.

As this side of CM, the collarhat side, is more for discussions and such, you're welcome to stick around and read and ask questions of the friendly helpful (sometimes insane, lol) people here.

Good luck, and enjoy!

Welcome to Collarme, Dave.
As the lovely dreamer stated, this side of the site is filled with lots
of information to fill your mind with, and is a great way to interact
with others that may share some of the same interests as you.

Ps. Just to be clear, I'm not one of the insane ones that she mentioned.
I'm one of the very few shy and innocent ones. [image]http://www.collarme.com/images/smileys/0383.gif[/image]

Poise? Insane? Nope, does not compute.
Shy and innocent? *koffkoffbskoff* [:D]

Thanks :)
Yeah I know there is a munch in Glasgow on the 4th Thursday of every month, but I'm pretty shy when it comes to meeting new people and don't like to just show up. I know its probably the easiest way to meet people but I would rather I knew a few people to that I could go along with which I think it would take some of the awkwardness away from it.

I'll check out the site 'Fetlife' and see if I can get in contact with some people who attend the local munches.

Hi Dave! I'm not in Scotland (about 50 miles south of the border), but I know there's a pretty good scene in Scotland.

I recommend going to fetlife, finding your local group and messaging the organisers of the munch. What they should do is to arrange for you to arrive maybe half an hour earlier so you get a chance to meet them before anyone else arrives. Then they can introduce you round. That's what happened to me at my local munch, and I never looked back!

Also, if you get involved in chatting online with people who already attend your local munch then you will already know people before you arrive. Trust me, it will be fine [:D]

Oh, and welcome to cm!

ETA: On Fetlife the group you appear to need is called "Glasgow Meets"

Welcome dave, your best chance is in Glasgow, it's pretty grim everywhere else!

I have registered on Fetlife and joined the local groups and I'll see if I can talk and get to know a few local people, I would like to attend but, as you said, I would rather I knew some people before hand and feel more comfortable, Find it easier to be introduced to other members.
And hopefully the first time I do attend is a pleasurable experience and I'll return and be glad I did [:)]

Dublinfun -> RE: Anyone from Scotland? (11/22/2011 7:03:15 AM)

Hi. I'm coming back to Glasgow for a few days in early December. I've been away for a few years. I just wondered what the scene was like in Scotland now? It's a shame there's no "Scotland" in the country listings. It's a pain coming under the general UK banner.

It would be better if it was regionalized like other sites.

Anyway, I'm looking for any events or munches around the Glasgow area with a view to chatting and meeting likeminded folk, with relatively sane female subs being of most interest.

Delilya -> RE: Anyone from Scotland? (11/22/2011 7:10:29 AM)

good luck

GreedyTop -> RE: Anyone from Scotland? (11/22/2011 7:20:52 AM)

dave.. Bunny speaks my mind
(as usual.. dammit, girl, arent you tired of being in there, yet? [:D][:D])

hang out here in the forums, and find as many Scotland related groups on FL as possible (or make your own!!)

(now, seeing as I am of Campbell ancestry, I must ask.. you're not one of those MacDonald types are ya? *grins*)

I suggest you find the munch and then email the people who are running it. Explain to them that you are very new to the lifestyle and a bit shy and would appreciate it if they could ease your way as you will be arriving single. More likely than not they will take you under their wing a bit and introduce you around. Getting in touch, through Fetlife, with other members of the local groups isn't a bad idea either.

*blink*

this thread was started by someone from Scotland, but your nick says Dublin (which, in my poor geographic knowledge, is in either Ireland or California -and many other US states as well).

*suspicious* are you being a multi-sock???

Dublinfun -> RE: Anyone from Scotland? (11/23/2011 1:06:55 AM)

Hi. I'm not sure why you feel suspicious GreedyTop, I'm born and bred in Scotland and live abroad at the moment, but I'll be getting the chance to visit home (Scotland) much more often now. The Dublin part of my username relates to the place in Ireland I was living in when I joined the site. Are you Scottish yourself and living in the US?

What's a "multi-sock" when it's at home?
