Now you are splitting hairs.

tazzygirl -> RE: Pharma-backed legislation to allow secret vaccinations of children without parental consent abou (9/20/2011 12:31:01 PM)

What hair?

So instead of dealing with children who have no parents, and to avoid confrontations with idiotic parents, we create a blanket law that abrogates the rights of parents with children who A) aren't mature enough to get a tattoo, B) aren't mature enough to join the military, C) aren't mature enough to get married, D) aren't mature enough to work, E) aren't mature enough to drink, F) aren't mature enough to legally choose to have sex, GHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ... there aren't enough letters in the alphabet to cover all the other ways we deem them to not be mature enough.

But they can make their own medical choices.

It's funny that a counselor can deem them mature enough to get an operation, but not mature enough to get a job.

One of these days, I'll maybe understand why people refuse to address problems directly and instead walk all the way around a subject to basically shaft one right for another.

But they are mature enough to HAVE sex, they are mature enough to have psychological problems, they are mature enough to find ways to drink and do drugs.... shall we just say "we cant help you" and turn them away?

We should not leave their parenting to the state. This law, and laws like it have a valid point, and a valid place. They also remove responsibility from everyone involved. Not wanting to tell mom is different than maybe mom being crazy and abusive.

Abrogate, is the correct term.

jlf1961 -> RE: Pharma-backed legislation to allow secret vaccinations of children without parental consent abou (9/20/2011 1:54:58 PM)

After reading the law, I can find NO reference to giving children vaccinations, just treatment for sexually transmitted diseases.

In other words, Hunk is full of shit again.

He should know by now that prisonplanet is a bullshit conspiracy site with no valid news.

tazzygirl -> RE: Pharma-backed legislation to allow secret vaccinations of children without parental consent abou (9/20/2011 1:56:24 PM)

In a perfect world, this would not be needed. This world is far from perfect. As a nurse, I would not feel comfortable with a blanket law that allowed any child to wander in off the streets demanding care. Emergency care is not included in this situation because in those cases its care first, questions later.

Not sure I agree with all its implications, but I do see the merit in having such a law in place.

tazzygirl -> RE: Pharma-backed legislation to allow secret vaccinations of children without parental consent abou (9/20/2011 2:04:19 PM)

(a) A minor who is 12 years of age or older and who may
have come into contact with an infectious, contagious, or
communicable disease may consent to medical care related to the
diagnosis or treatment of the disease, if the disease or condition is
one that is required by law or regulation adopted pursuant to law to
be reported to the local health officer, or is a related sexually
transmitted disease, as may be determined by the State Public Health
Officer.

It could be implied under this part.

stef -> RE: Pharma-backed legislation to allow secret vaccinations of children without parental consent abou (9/20/2011 2:14:16 PM)

No way!  More tinfoil-laden nutjob bullshit from Prisonplanet/Hunkapottamus?  I'm shocked!

tazzygirl -> RE: Pharma-backed legislation to allow secret vaccinations of children without parental consent abou (9/20/2011 2:17:56 PM)

lol.. yeah... the "secret" part is definitely misleading. As far as vaccinations, very few are curative... most are preventative. Not sure how many would fall under that category.

Yeah, it's also kind of funny that an 18 year old is deemed mature enough to get his legs blown off in Iraq but not mature enough to drink a beer.

Go figure.

Advocating sweat shops for children?

You pretty much nailed the joke on the head.

I think that the uproar is because there is a disconnect in the laws. The 12 year old has to be off the streets by 9pm (curfew laws) but can get BCPs without parental consent (some states). You cannot order a beer until you are 21 but you can go get a vaccine at 12. Why are minors deemed mature and responsible enough for some choices and not for others?

It seems that the goalposts for what is a child and what is an adult keep changing. As well as the idea of what children should be in charge of for themselves and what adults have responsibility for.

tazzygirl -> RE: Pharma-backed legislation to allow secret vaccinations of children without parental consent abou (9/20/2011 4:49:49 PM)

I think the vaccine is a smoke screen to upset as many as possible.

How many vaccines do you get after the fact?

have come into contact with an infectious, contagious, or communicable disease

TB would come under that... HIV...most STD's.... but vaccines are designed to prevent infection... not treat afterwards.

pahunkboy -> RE: Pharma-backed legislation to allow secret vaccinations of children without parental consent abou (9/20/2011 6:05:12 PM)

yeah- it is just a barrel of laughs.

That could be. And picking Gardisil is going to set people's hair on fire. There seems to be a dearth of people that can think rationally about that.

Rabis. From personal experience last year with Butterhead. Tetanus is another one. Off the top of my head I cannot think of more.

If they are able to consent for an abortion with out their parents, why not a vaccine?

it undermines the family structure.

May as well have a kid and hand them over to the state.

If your kid is showing up to be treated for a communicable disease and hasnt told you, the parent, you already have.
