Grab some history books and read... most historians disagree with you. The main purpose of the invasion of Canada was not territory (that simply would have been a bonus... the really valuable real estate was in the Caribbean) but to stop British sponsored Indian attacks upon the American frontier. The first actual attack of the war came from Canada in an attack upon American territory at Fort Mackinac. After the American invasions of Canada failed the British were planing another invasion from the north but that got put on hold when the U.S. Navy cleaned their clocks in the Battle of Lake Erie. The British invasion of the East Coast, despite the burning of Washington, was stopped on land and sea at Baltimore and Jackson put a stop to the British invasion of New Orleans. Now take your nationalistic, bigoted shit about revisionism and shove it back where it came from.

I'm sorry, Marc, I just don't have either the time or inclination to expend the effort required to teach yet another ignorant Southron the facts of the matter. Suffice to say that conquest of the U.S. was never even considered to be of interest let alone an aim by the British (they were just a little busy dealing with Napoleon at the time...you know in a titanic struggle for their existence with a real major threat...not a minor colonial squabble), and that the conquest of Canada was indeed the main aim of the U.S. Hawks...the final expulsion of Britain from North America being one of the big shibboleths at the time. You started the war, you invaded with the intent to conquer, we are still free...ergo...you lost.

We handed you your asses on a platter. Shut up and deal with it.

Britian was arming Indian tribes and encouraging them to attack U.S. settlements and seizing American sailors and impressing them into forced labor... how does that not fit the definition of state sponsored terroism?

I have believed that for over twenty years, more actually I think. The theory is becoming more popular with people thinking it out and realizing just how ridiculously difficult it would be for the crown to hold unwilling territories so far away. Elite they were, but not jet set, and neither was the army nor supplies.

There would come a time when the tax revenue simply wasn't worth it. Canada on the other hand was willing. Well that's their fucking problem. But then the US is never going to go against the quo without a revolution anyway so none of this means shit in the end.
