Wow, Linnea, that is a pain! Back home, NY has the nickel deposit on all bottles and cans, but you don't have to take them back to where you got them from. The grocery stores all have those big crusher machines, cans and bottles in, receipt out. But many folks give their deposit stuff to various places, schools, day care places...at home, our Humane Society gets all our familiy's stuff. It's surprising how quickly those nickels can add up! Here in J'ville, the city does the recycling...blue bins and all. Since I've started putting mine out, my trash is almost non-existent. I really wish I had a trash disposal, then I'd have nothing. I hate that I throw away trash bags that are 1/8 full, but since I have to toss any wet food/leftovers in it, the smell gets pretty rank.
