The fact that these are always visual outrages seems to be pretty clearly significant.


People from one side getting their panties in a twist over little things the other side is doing is nothing new. I see it primarily as a result of a simplistic “us good/them bad” mentality. Racism may sometimes be a factor but, absent any definitive proof that racism is the driving factor, I think the benefit of the doubt should be given.

When it comes to racism in the right wing I agree with whoever first said (I don’t recall so all due credit to whoever credit is due) that racism on the right is more than the right is willing to admit but less than the left is willing to credit.

Status: offline 		Oh heck.  Many presidents, if not most did the same damned thing and I don't hear you moaning about it.  There are pictures of George W Bush and Gerald Ford with their feet up on their desks in the oval office.  Were they acting like kings according to you too?  What is the big hairy deal?  FDR had the very same precious desk modified to fit his braces.  I never heard of any damning of FDR for being rude or king like for doing that.  By the way, that desk was given to the President Hayes in 1880.  It was never used in the Oval Office until Jackie Kennedy moved it there for her husband to use.
