http://www.cnn.com/2011/09/21/tech/web/santorum-google-ranking/index.html

Santorum can't figure out why his popularity is so low and naturally blames Google.  I was somewhat sympathetic to him until he claimed that Google would have changed the search results priority instantly if he were a Democrat.

Rick:

1. Forget Presidential aspirations.  You look Presidential, and that's it.
2. Your comment ensured that the remaining 15% of the US population who never Googled Santorum will now do so.  I'm not sure if that was your aim or if you just wanted to come across as a whiner.  Whatever, poor move.
3. The reason your popularity is dismal is that nobody takes you seriously.  If you accomplished something, that might help.  Start up a PAC like Gingrich, or say something intelligent.  DO something.

I just love Dan Savage.

kalikshama -> RE: Santorum complains about Google. (9/22/2011 6:49:00 AM)

As you know from reading the article Santorum is wrong, and now sounds whiny:

Danny Sullivan, who writes at the blog SearchEngineLand, notes that Google has a history of being hands-off when it comes to these controversies, regardless of the politics or sensitivities involved:

"Google is loathe to touch its results in any way, shape or form. That's because if it does intervene in any way, there's some interest group that will immediately claim a bias. Way back in 2004, an anti-Jewish web site started ranking in Google's top results for 'Jew.'

"Despite Google co-founder Sergey Brin being Jewish and himself disgusted with the result, it stood. Intervention, when Google's ranking algorithms had spoken, was seen as harmful to user trust," Sullivan writes.

In December 2009, when racist images of first lady Michelle Obama popped to the top of Google search results, the company took a similar free-speech stance.

"We have a bias toward free expression," Google spokesman Scott Rubin said at the time. "That means that some ugly things will show up."

Still, Google has removed offensive content from searches, usually by making changes to how its overall search equations function.

In 2007, for example, a change to Google's search algorithm stopped the search term "miserable failure" from directing Internet users to pages about former president George W. Bush, according to SearchEngineLand.

Nope. Well, I can't speak for anybody else but I've still no desire to Google "Santorum."

Am I the only one who thinks that his name sounds to close to "sanitarium" to be taken seriously?

Ahh the con-whiner." I`m a victim, vote for me" card get`s played by "man-on-dog" Santorum. The paranoid liberal bias card too."If it was a dem they`d pull it" just makes him look even more out of it and clueless.

The one of a few times google intervened, was for shrub.....a republican.

"miserable failure" lol.......that`s funny.

It`s like that joke, when someone says look up "miserable failure" in the dictionary and you`ll see a picture of ~incert name~.

Only the natural algorithm of folk`s internet activity for bush, brought the search engine to terms like miserable failure.

It's right from the Republican Play-Book. Step 1: Play the Victim Card, and whine like a little bitch about how you're being attacked by everyone.

DomKen -> RE: Santorum complains about Google. (9/22/2011 7:45:32 AM)

Mr. Savage has told Frothy Mixture what he has to do to get the website taken down. If the website gets taken down it will very quickly be removed from Google search results. I wonder why Santorum can't bring himself to apologize for equating homosexuality with bestiality and pedophilia?

FR

If you dont think that Google intentionally ranks certain results to benefit their advertisers and their biases youre hopelessly naive.

So, the market has decided that Santorum is a cunt then?

Once you get past the NEWS listing, frothy mixture is the first result for santorum on Bing, too..

Finally, a politician, rather than the people, is screwed over by an algorithm.  All is right with the world now.

Just thinking through a few proposals for Santorum's people.... WHAT IF, there was a cookie config that would rack you up points for each search of "santorum" and the points were redeemable for minutes on a Porn Webcam site?

The "Market" being defined as the set of all currently living people who are not Rick Santorum?

tazzygirl -> RE: Santorum complains about Google. (9/23/2011 12:20:36 AM)

If you do end up having to redefine the word "rick," which you threatened to do in your recent Funny or Die video, I have a suggestion: rick (v): to remove santorum orally. ("He was so grateful for the lay that he ricked his partner.")

Happy To Help

P.S. Thanks for your efforts on behalf of equality for all.

You're welcome, HTH, and in case anyone missed my Funny or Die video—in which I threatened to redefine Rick Santorum's first name if he didn't lay off the gay bashing—you can watch it here: www.tinyurl.com/ricksick.

Santorum hasn't laid off the gay bashing, as it's all he's got, so it looks like I'm going to have to go ahead and redefine his first name, too. (My apologies to Rick Dees, Rick Fox, Ricki Lake, and all the other innocent Ricks out there.) The definition I proposed in my video was a little too long and involved, so I vote for adopting yours, HTH. Now "Rick Santorum" isn't just a vile and disgusting politician—he's a vile and disgusting sentence.

That said, I don't think someone would rick his or her partner out of gratitude; ricking someone—sucking the frothy mix of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the byproduct of anal sex out of someone's ass—is something a person would do only under duress or under orders from a cruel BDSM top.

LOL.. i love Dan Savage
