You want serious work. Well, what the fuck is serious? Government money is not going to turn this problem around. It's the money in your pocket, mine, and everyone else's. We have to spend. We have to have enough confidence to spend.

I am a sole proprietor of a consulting business and everything that comes in goes out in the form of SPENDING. I know DOZENS of businessmen just like me same story. Now, when we go to functions like BBB sponsored stuff, they tell us the same nonsense you're laying out. The rank and file are spending and have no choice but to do so. We do or we go under, period.
I know a guy who's over on the west side who's Co-CEO of a mid-sized medical services company. He told me today "Just keep your reserves up and wait it out. In a year Obama will get kicked out and the money will be flowing. Everybody just needs to hang tough for a while longer.". I was astonished. I know jack is politically hooked up. I would just love to know who told him to follow that strategy..

Anybody who understands business is a good candidate.

Exactly. People do spend. Companies do spend. And they're spending re to the line of we do or we go under, or perhaps for families, we do or we starve. We are not spending on a line that would drive the economy anywhere but at best, a flat line. Banks, large corporations, are sitting on unprecedented levels of cash, so much so that they're starting to get charged for storing the money.

The economy and consumer spending/ consumer confidence feed off each other. Suppress one, you suppress the other. If your friend thinks that Obama leaving will spur the economy, what he's really saying is the fear of what Obama might do to business is part of what's strangling economy.

Oh let's not be nonsensical here anybody who can count knows that "being charged for storage" of said money is a small price to pay considering the prize is potentially a RIGGED ELECTION. Please be a good republican and an even better American,  and ask your party to release the hostages.

"Republicans want to offset the cost of restocking FEMA's Disaster Relief Fund by cutting spending elsewhere in the federal budget."

So let me see if I have this right.  The Republicans are insisting that money for unexpected expenses has to come from somewhere else, and the Senate Democrats are willing to put what little is left in their massively discredited venture socialism fund ahead of the good of the country, to insist that it all has to be on the credit card.

You know, the battery in my wife's car died last January.  It was a tight month, so that unexpected $100 bucks meant we didn't go out for sushi and shochu.  What's hard?

I can't believe the Dems are so foolish as to think rejecting any form of fiscal restraint is a winning formula for them.
