I never said people don't have a right to their opinions. I am merely asserting my right to my own opinions and my right to inform people when their opinions about me are wrong.

tazzygirl -> RE: Elizabeth Warren quote (9/26/2011 12:29:35 PM)

ho·mo·pho·bi·a (h m-f b-) n. 1. Fear of or contempt for lesbians and gay men.

You have yet to prove anyone here is a homophobe.

Well, Im pretty sure that I know myself better than you know me so I'll pick out my own hats if you don't mind (and if you do mind, tough shit).

I think you have OCD about the last word... so here's some tough love..

Save that for Fargle and his rants about Republicans. THIS would be more appropriate. Or THIS. Or maybe THIS.

SERIOUSLY, you spend three messages taking pokes after I tell you what I think _ABOUT_THE_REAL_ISSUE_, never once just telling you to fuck off and you come up with this weakling shit about your posts being superior???
Seriously learn to take a hint and people will seem far nicer to you.

You told me to fuck off whjen you wrote this: "Conducting preemptive strikes on those who you feel oppose your philosophy IN ANOTHER MAN'S VOTING DISTRICT... sure doesn't illustrate that.... but good for you.

Perhaps you can wait till WE ELECT HER to voice your objections to OUR GOVERNANCE ... least then it can be over her conduct in the national debate."

What you fail to understand is that my geographic location is not in the least relevant to my right to free speech. You fail to understand a lot more.

Now get this through your head:

I don't give a shit about which political party Elizabeth Warren is in. I don't give a shit what her political philosphy is. I don't give a shit what your political philosophy is (or what you think mine is) I wasn't thinking about any of that when I made my first comment because it was irrelevant to the point I was making. What I wrote had nothing to do about politics or economics but was about human nature. I'm sure Warren is a nice person but she is as human as the rest of us and the quote by her was (to me) a perfect example of how our biases can sutbly underlie our thinking.

It is easy to spot bigotry in people like Rush Limbaugh or Glen Beck. It is easy to spot bigotry in anyone we don't like... it is much more difficult to spot it in those we do like and nigh impossible to spot it in ourselves. Or rather, we do spot it in ouselves but pretend it is other than what it is, or that it is justified by the deficiencies of the Other.

I'm not saying that debates about tax policy or Presidents don't have their place but the truth of the matter is that 90% (and I'm probably being generous) of what passes for political debate is, in fact nothing more than verbal violence that we engage in because it satisfies some dark need in the human soul to stroke our own egos at the expense of others (there is no easier way to make yourself feel exalted than by demeaning others). So long as the human race is addicted to this need, so long as we fail to recognize the Other in ourselves, we will be doomed to this cycle in which nothing is acomplished election after election, war after war.

I like to point out this underlying problem, so often hiding in plain sight in our discourse, now and then. If that offends you or upsets you, there is really nothing I can do about that.

Sanity -> RE: Elizabeth Warren quote (9/27/2011 9:19:47 AM)

You've established that you're a homophobe on your own, alreay.

mnottertail -> RE: Elizabeth Warren quote (9/27/2011 9:25:08 AM)

Well, we have established that you, sanity, are a self-loathing gaybasher and rushfelcher.

Exactly. The GAO did no accounting as to why, no accounting to how many failed, no accounting to how many even had operating losses.

Nor did they bother to look at what companies were merely deferring taxes, taking advantage of OBAMA's tax incentives.

VideoAdminAlpha -> RE: Elizabeth Warren quote (9/27/2011 12:22:14 PM)

Ok folks... it appears that it does not matter whether you are in your own little seperated part of the world so that you can have the leeway that other areas don't have, the envelope keeps getting pushed, and amazingly enough, (believe it or not) file endless reports about other users saying violations are occurring and fail to look in the mirror and see a big black pot because some of their own posts almost look exactly like the ones they are reporting. Some took the leeway of being able to tear at the ideas of others, and have translated it into derisive changing of users nicks, and accusing others of illegal drug use, and accusing others in a desultory way of sexual preferences, in essence portraying the sexual orientation they use to push their insult in fact a huge tos violation because it is bashing in essence of whole groups of humans that have other than what society considers "normal". Since it appears that a LOT of users have trouble controlling the descent of their insults and self policing themselves , a new day is dawning. This board and in large part another, the Gorean Board, have been allowed the LUXURY of minimal moderation. The Gorean Board has been able to operate with minimal assitance, and in fact, have the lowest percentage BY FAR of reports filed. The same cannot be said about this area. Posters have had various viewpoints about how this seemingly volatile area should be moderated. At the risk of making a seemingly unprofessional remark, other than occasional posts, for the most part, this particular area has less than a couple of dozen posters, while the whole forum RIGHT NOW has 13000 visitors and 375 registered people posting at this VERY minute, according to the stats on the board. There are 25 USERS right now posting in this forum. 25....

As I said, I am going to review this and it's TOP on my list of things to do for the WHOLE SITE. I would like to make a helpful suggestion to those reading this post. It might be wise for you to thoroughly read the Terms of Service http://www.collarchat.com/tos.asp at this particular moment. I would also highly suggest you read this link: http://collarchat.com/m_72/tm.htm . You might want to read it before you post again in this forum. Since this is a very different approach than what it has been until now, I would like to let you know, during this transition period there will be some additional measures taken here to help lessen the angst of conversion. If there is a succession of violating posts by multiple users, the thread will be locked and THEN the TOS violating posts will be removed in an effort to help those posting in that manner to be immediately aware of the problem. The thread will NOT be unlocked however, after the offending posts are removed. Hopefully, this will not result in a shortage of active threads.

If you want to email me and tell me your opinion of the changes, I will read gladly read each comment made and truly consider every comment made and sent to me. I will not be sending replies however to opinions or entertaining in dialogues about the theory of this at this time. The moderators will not have any additional information than the users, so they will not be able to add any guidelines or information than is here. If they get any mail about this, to make sure your opinion is heard, should you send to a moderator instead of myself, they will be forwarding me any mail should they get any, about this, and so will Support.

I am going to leave this thread locked and I am going to make another thread to make sure that this is seen and put at the top.

Thanks for reading.
