Oh lawd..........what don't I try and do???

In no particular order.

Yoga and exercise are no longer a hobby but a necessity to a healthy and happy life for me. aka.........just part of the routine. And yes, kettlebells ROCK! My sore middle can attest to that.

Photography..........what used to be a hobby has now turned into a very VERY expensive part time job/hobby/maybe it will make more than it costs...thing. I love it. Canon's L class lenses keep my savings account rather low and a new camera will be next. Excited about Lightroom 3!

Multiple other artistic ventures that I start, stop, pick back up, put down, forget, find, do some more with..........etc etc etc

I suppose all my fur babies are a hobby for some but they are also an essential part of my life. Riding the horses or just hanging out with them is total therapy. And my dog friends are pure joy. I wish we could post little video clips on here like we can photos so you could see a recent evening of entertainment.

Cooking is also a very important aspect of my life. It is a way to express love, nurture, and even 'travel' to new cultures. I love to explore through food. Hopefully there will be a day when I can travel physically and list that as a hobby also.

Growing things, flowers and food items. Preserving the food items. Not much this year as the weather zapped the orchard. I don't steal honey from my bees because I want them to thrive and keep doing what they do for my orchard.

Lots of hiking and exploring nature.

During the season, attending as many motocross events as possible. (ecstasy and agony they are)

Read like crazy. Books, magazines, newspapers are always scattered about. Online I can spend hours reading and researching. I love to learn.

Movies......I love movies. And a few television shows on the Travel Channel.

Always home improvement projects going on.........the stone patio/stone oven project came to a grinding halt when the weekends got crazy busy and the work week evenings darker quicker.

"has now turned into a very VERY expensive part time job/hobby/maybe it will make more than it costs"

This is part of my problem lol   I need a hobby that won't become expensive because i really am trying to save more rather than finding something that is going to cost me more money to enjoy.

One of the things i am looking into is jewelry making because it's a type of hobby that if you love doing it and are good at it, it can become a money maker or at least recouping your losses.  I just am impatient because i do better with already knowing how to do stuff than having to learn from the beginning.

Exercising, i really do want this to become a hobby, it's something that benefits me as a person and something i need to have in my life.   I would eventually like to extend it as a hobby to become a weight loss coach because i think a lot of weight loss has to do with keeping and maintaining motivation and accounantability and keeping it interesting and yes, venting or needing a kick in the ass.  Someone who has dealt with the difficulties of accomplishing their goals not because of anything physical but because they are their own worse enemy lol.

I love writing and reading but time is not always conducive to accomplishing same as i am the type of person who needs to start and finish a book lol i can't put it down and pick it up later.

Hmm, at the risk of getting an ewww from the women here (and a few of the men) I've been building and flying model airplanes since I was a kid. My mom decided I needed to do something "masculine" when I was 2.5 years old so she built plastic models with me. While I've moved to flying models since then, I still need to build. I've designed a few, but my aesthetic sense isn't great- other people are far better designers than me. While my own niece and nephew haven't shown much interest, I'm lucky that some of my friends kids who are now 10 and 7? really enjoy it- both the building and the flying, so I get to drive up to NH and borrow them to take to a model meet in Boston. There are a set of younger twins, the parents are happy to have me take the elder kids as a break.

Building model airplanes that fly indoors is not expensive, less than $100 will get you set up with years of building supplies and tools. Nor do the financial needs expand if you're flying rubber power (or at least not much- and the tools last a long time). It's either very relaxing or boring to watch duration rubber powered models flying indoors. My local group flies models that will do over 10 minutes- the airplanes fly at walking speed and are some of the most fragile creations of all. Here's a link: http://floatdocumentary.com/documentary I don't do that end of the hobby- I tend to fly scale models where if the airplane flies over a minute, you can win a contest with it. But again, it's not an expensive hobby and most of us become amateur historians- we want to know about the airplanes we build. However, good indoor sites can be few and far between...

I don't know where sailing fits in- I tend to think of it as a sport, but then you need to work on the boat, so there are clearly hobby aspects. Biking is exercise, skiing is a sport...

I've done photography when I was younger, but after high school, I got less serious, haven't been in a darkroom in years. Sitting on a computer playing with images leaves me cold...I liked the chemistry of film.

I've done a little writing too- don't count reading as a hobby though.

Sam

Little girls' fancy foofy hair bows, along these lines

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMYY7yuOFM4&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJVcK_-VZKU&feature=related (especially these)

In all honesty, Aylee, and anyone else who has daughters or granddaughters or nieces.....how much would you be willing to pay for one of the really fancy bows? Good ribbon isn't cheap......$10? $15? $20 for the really big ones with glue-on decorations?

I paint and draw when the inspiration hits me.
I knit, I crochet, I quilt. I do blown glass once in awhile, not too often though.

I test new weapons. I teach self defense. I play softball and basketball with the local leagues.

I grow my own vegetables, herbs and edible flowers.

All of this falls by the wayside though. My biggest hobby is raising my daughter. I used to have 4 of those hobbies, but it has wittled down to one now...soon to be none

Well, honestly I wouldn't pay for one. Upon putting one of those in Butterhead's hair, she would remove it and spend the next five to ten minutes taking it apart.

For pricing. . . I thought the rule of thumb was double the cost of supplies.

Ribbon ~ $2.50
Barrette ~ $1.00
Decoration~ $1.50
Total ~ $5.00

Cost to purchase ~ $10.00

(Yes, I made up the amounts)

Another idea is to ask some people at a craft fair how they determine pricing.

That's actually a pretty fair estimate for cost and pricing, though I've seen higher pricetags on some online "boutiques". I'm looking for sales on ribbon. And yes, I actually have a craft show lined up to visit tomorrow to see if people in this area are even doing bows and to get pricing on those as well as handcrafted jewelry. I'm hoping to be the local "pioneer" for the bows. Local people I've asked have given me blank stares and I've not seen any, so.....

I will get to work designing an indestructible one for Butterhead .

Ummm, I don't know any good bee recipes, how do you cook them ?

I do... You take all the bees you can catch and put em in a jar. next head for a larger building, preferably a commercial bank. Enter at about 12pm and stand until you see a guy in a suit whom everyone is falling all over themselves to welcome back from lunch... Follow him into the elevator and make sure you press the 2nd floor button. When it arrives at 2 start to leave but stop in the doorway and turn around. When the door starts to close, take out the jar and bust it on the floor stepping back and wishing the fucking bankster a nice day. It's unfortunately more a recipe for chaos as opposed to food
