NiceGuyNihilist -> RE: You can see Russia from my backyard (9/24/2011 6:04:33 AM)

There's a big difference between Obama's innocent (if amusing) slip and Sarah "Idiocracy Personified" Palin's absolutely deliberate implication that merely being governor of a state that happens to sit close to Russia counts as foreign policy experience. Still, I have to admit that if I'd been the thread starter, and I'd thought to make a crack about a Russia-Alaska railroad, I'd have had a hard time resisting the temptation.

Can't we all just get along? Even the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.

Where are your LEADERS, proving that bigotry and hatred aren't core-beliefs of your party?

I missed this the first time. I guess I must just be starting to pass over mind-reading claims as standard fare.

My party? Heh.

Work on coming up with a winning lottery number. You'll find it much more profitable. Let us know how you do.

Oh, he SAID "intercontinental railroad", but any idiot knowing the context that he was speaking would intuitively understand that he meant TRANScontinental railroad. I mean, isn't the only intercontinental railroad the Chunnel between England and France -- so he wasn't talking about that.
...

just a minute correction - despite some Brits' beliefs merry old GB is part of Europe too despite them still referring to us land-locked ones as those "on the Continent." Not sure what became of the Turkish plan of a railroad bridge between the European and Asian part of Istambul - that indeed would be "Inter-continental."

Does the White House get its water from Alaska?

Don't laugh too hard.  Maybe they are farther along on this project than anyone admits?  Or he is taking a "PR advance"?

Why would you attack the President like that, HOH?  That says the Russians are building it.  Are you suggesting he doesn't even know what country he is in?

Looks like an easy gaffe to me, but No-oooo, you have to come along and blow it all out of proportion.  [:D]

(And yes, such a connection would be tremendous accomplishment, and a tremendous avenue for commerce)

It says the Russians have given the go-ahead, nothing about them building it.  You cannot build a rail tunnel linking two continents without agreement between those who own the land on each side.

Too bad your totally wrong about her comment being merely about geographical proximity. There is direct trade between Alaska and Russia, subsidies for Russian citizens in Alaska colleges, etc.

ArizonaBossMan -> RE: You can see Russia from my backyard (9/24/2011 9:43:12 AM)

Leftists can not differentiate between a saturday night live skit and reality. This is the Obama constituency. That's why I don't bother discussing anything important with leftists. Obama? Yes, Morgan Freeman, I want his ass out of the white house. If that makes me a racist in your eyes, who the hell cares? And yes, I support tea party principles. YES! Deal with it and deal with the oncoming tidal wave. January. 20th. 2013. Freedom Day. ABO = ANYBODY but obama! My cat for President. See, you really can't fix stupid. But never before have we had a whole political party dedicated to stupid like we have with Democrats.

Iamsemisweet -> RE: You can see Russia from my backyard (9/24/2011 10:08:50 AM)

The reason the media didn't report it, is because no one gives a fuck. Everyone garbles or misstates a word now and then, it doesn't mean they aren't intelligent people. Besides, jokes about how stupid the president is went out with the bush years. Now Bush misstated and garbled words so often that they made whole "bush misused word of the day" calendars.

The economy is going down in flames, and the conservative media latches onto one issue with delivery rather then the substance of the speech?

You cant possibly believe that if Michelle Bachman had said it that it wouldnt be all over the place.

Anyone else think it's ironic that the guy "defending" our soldiers now uses an avatar of a group who spit on & shit on, & called our military baby killers back in the 70's... Not to mention the guy defending the moron OP is a self claimed Vietnam Vet who probably got spit on by the very same moronic OP when he returned home?

This is too damn delicious... Liberals, we eat our own.

..and second - how much of a disgrace is it exactly that Obama never wore a uniform?

What do you expect from a group of Republican Presidential candidates - not one of whom has ever spent a day (to my knowledge) wearing the uniform of the United States of America?

A classic example of clouding the issue by FALSE EQUIVALENCY.

Your argument sounds like the drunk driver who, when arrested, said that he shouldn’t be charged with the crime of DUI since he once heard that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid ran a red light 30 years ago and didn’t get a ticket - FALSE EQUIVALENCY.

To my knowledge, President Obama was not at the debate, nodding in agreement with the GOP homophobes in the audience booing an active duty member of our Armed Forces.

If our President HAD been there, and had acted as the GOP Presidential candidates did and said nothing – then THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN EQUIVALENT – and he would have shown himself to be as gutless as all the GOP Presidential candidates.

Iamsemisweet -> RE: You can see Russia from my backyard (9/24/2011 11:29:03 AM)

So the liberal media is fucked up too. It is what Bachman says that is stupid, not how she says it. That is what they should be reporting.

Sanity -> RE: You can see Russia from my backyard (9/24/2011 11:47:55 AM)

Theres no false equivalency. If its as bad as you want us to believe that a given candidate isnt a veteran, then it has to apply to Obama as well.

Nothing you cite was the policy of the Democratic National Committee, unlike the Republican National Committee's tacit approval of Gay-Soldier-Bashing.

I notice that YOU, YOURSELF haven't denounced the bigots.

Why?

By treating your tacit approval of gay-bashing the soldiers defending your liberty as a joke, you prove your own bigotry.

I'm still not hearing y'all call for Boehner to publicly denounce and expel the gay-bashers...
