I rarely say 'good boy' to anyone/thing....... The only males on the property are G.D. (he might get a little miffed at the phrase... ) Quigley the cat (he could care less whether anyone thinks he is good or not...just keep the food dish full!) And the two horses, Mo and Maj. (also, being good is not exactly their forte'......more so, avoiding being too bad, these days) generally don't hear it as there really isn't much training these days. Mostly just an enjoyable ride. The enjoyable part is where Mo tends to try and avoid being bad. That horse just LIVES to be bad. The dogs are all female and they do hear "Good girl!".........when in fact they have done something they didn't really want to do but did it anyway. With an s-type, I tend to use "Thank you" or "I really appreciate....... a lot" the most.
