This lady was given a "uni-boob" (which has since been corrected) and the doctor decided for fun to operate on her eyes as well. She cannot close her eyes and this can never be repaired.

yes, having eyelids that dont close is due to trying to tighten the skin too much and that is why you need to have a very good doctor do that procedure. And there is no way to fix it properly. The article says she didnt ask for that to be done in the first place tho.. What i dont understand is why she didnt go to the same doctor that did her first implants, who seems to have done a good job.

I remember watching some tv show on beauty and there are people out there that have parties, like botox parties but what one non-doctor did was injections of silicone into a persons face (instead of doing surgery i guess). Well, you dont inject silicone into your body, it moves around, it gets hard, its toxic too i believe.. and its impossible to remove it all.

Its amazing some of the stuff people get sucked into by people that dont know what they are doing, and have no business doing it. That might happen a bit more tho in the Hispanic community since they seem to trust each other and have a different way of doing things. The Hispanic family i lived with for a while, the wife went to the dentist and the dentist removed 2 molars but they were the wrong ones!.. I would have been dam upset but it didnt seem to faze her any and she kept going to that same dentist.. go figure..

This is why you do your research, check their medical credentials and get a second and third opinion from other surgeons. Anyone who goes to get plastic surgery or any kind of surgery and doesn't do this then imo it's their own stupidity because it's not like people are not told this over and over and over again till people are blue in the face.

You know that and i know that but we speak english. Many Hispanics dont or speak it well enough to understand. Thats why when calling govt or large corporations, you press 1 if you want to speak to someone in Spanish. (In Canada its to speak to someone in French). I dont know if this particular woman speaks english or not but it could be one possible reason. I wonder if there will be a spanish version of this ad for spanish newspapers/tv..

I don't know that it's necessary to get second or third opinions for such an elective surgery. Problem, in my opinion, is that in the quest for perky Barbie boobs, people are price shopping instead of quality surgeon shopping.

As for if she didn't speak english well enough sorry, but that's on her as much as the doctor. Seen lots of shows in the last couple of years where people go to South America for various cosmetic things and don't understand the surgeon. That's crazy! I wouldn't even permit a surgeon whose accent was too thick for me to understand well take a knife to me without someone to clarify what he said.

What's sad is that it said she used settlement money to get them fixed, but I got the impression the settlement wasn't that big. Odd they didn't name the doctor either.t money to get them fixed, but I got the impression the settlement wasn't that big. Odd they didn't name the doctor either.

When I had my breast reduction surgery, which is a completely elective surgery, I went to three different doctors to find the one who had the best bedside manner, how he would do the surgery compared to the others, plus what they cost. I was sure to check their credentials as well.

I just can't imagine anyone, no matter what language they may speak, not checking out their doctors.  If you don't understand what the doctor is telling you find one you do understand. Why would you risk your health with a surgery that you can't even figure out what he's telling you. For all you know he just asked you if you wanted your kidney removed while he was at it.

That can happen in english speaking countries too actually. A poster here from the UK (in another thread) said that the doctor the poster uses doesnt speak english and there is an interpreter there to translate for the doctor & patient.. Now i dont know if that particular doctor operates or not but i would guess if they are a licensed doctor that they can..

But for me, no matter if i only get moles removed i want the best doctor i can get.... (that kinda thing sqwicks me out)

Ya know.. not taking away from your experience... But I worked with an obgyn that I detested working with. But, if I ever had to have surgery... he would have been the one I went too. He was simply that good as a surgeon.

If I were considering plastic surgery, I would start chatting up the medical community. Its a wealth of untapped information.

Ya........I don't give a flying fuck about their bedside manner. I want to know about their medical/surgical 'manner'.

And I gotta tell ya......I struggle to feel a lot of sympathy for the woman. Of course that is mostly due to my negativity towards plastic/elective surgery.

My sympathy ended at the moment she said she didnt check credentials. Even with my foot/ankle Dr, I know I have the best in the area... according to not only his peers, but the nursing staff I know.

No better recommendation than that.
