Lookie, I am wondering whether the protesting will help.

A gentle reminder.  If there happens to be a typo that changes a fellow poster's name to an insult or a slur, your post will be pulled.  Should your comment happen to quote what has been pulled, I'm afraid I will have to take those out as well.

Thank you for your participation and cooperation.

Yeah, but she would call herself a communist. She just doesnt understand left vs right.

One day there will not be left VERSUS right, it is so dumb. Why oppose equal sides of the same thing? It really comes down to people who are pro Earth and those who arent and the ones that arent will never be right.

fragilepieces -> RE: 32 Pictures From Occupy Wall Street Protests (10/10/2011 3:20:57 AM)

10/10 and the protesters are still there and more and more cities and people are joining in.   My city starts theirs on Thursday.   [:)]

Aneirin -> RE: 32 Pictures From Occupy Wall Street Protests (10/10/2011 5:20:39 AM)

As one across the pond, I wondered about all these protests, if they were still going on, as ,well there is nothing being reported on our news networks about it, and that is new, so I went searching and found someone else who is also wondering;

http://youtu.be/_cVpyBxXwgc

Now given the discontent we have seen on our streets this year, I can perhaps understand a need to keep the discontented in the dark regards what you in the US are doing, but in not reporting the news corporations are displaying very well that what we learn about is sanitised, which with me just adds more fuel to the fire of distrust of media.

fragilepieces -> RE: 32 Pictures From Occupy Wall Street Protests (10/10/2011 6:02:41 AM)

Our main stream media is not showing a whole heck of a lot about it either unless it's some sort of negative stuff.

Its in the news, and there are reasons there are no positive things...

CAIN: 'Why don't you move demonstrations to White House?'

PAPER: Wall Street camp infiltrated by party goers looking for sex, drugs...

Iran calls Wall Street protests 'American Spring'...

VIDEO: 'Occupy Atlanta' in strange group chant, ritual...

Chavez slams 'horrible repression' of U.S. protests...

The second link there is an blurb about Patrick Howley I think that is his name the journalist---he ADMITS he instigated that whole thing just for a news story.    So I can already see that what you posted is exactly right.   It's negative for a reason.   These protesters are causing some concerns---all I can say is good for them!

The daily fail makes me laugh, dumb bastards,
theres also another spectator article. which is also negative
but then it is a right wing rag...
http://spectator.org/archives/2011/10/07/the-importance-of-seeming-earn
if you look on facebook or twitter, there are tons of ways to find out about what is going on
the american press and the UK tory papers are via people like the spectator and more oh so unhappy with people daring to complain, its not like there isnt more than one reason to protest:)
They are just pissed off that more people havent been arrested, then you would see the media blaming them.. and out in force.

fragilepieces -> RE: 32 Pictures From Occupy Wall Street Protests (10/10/2011 6:38:47 AM)

I know Lucy that is where I get the REAL information from.

Aneirin -> RE: 32 Pictures From Occupy Wall Street Protests (10/10/2011 6:40:37 AM)

The way I perceive this if it to make a difference, is the protesters have to stay within the law at all times, as that way no one can say they are law breakers and take action against law breakers as I am sure there are many just pining to do. Maybe it is just a fallacy, maybe there is some truth in it, but when we see protests over here, we have the fabled 'rent-a-mob' always turn up to act against the law, often in a violent manner thus discrediting any protest by marring it with violence which you will notice always seems to be reported, when the peaceful is not. I am just waiting for it, with our parched desert of reporting on what is happening in the US, when something very violent happens, ( they will fight you- Ghandi ), all the worlds blind media will suddenly open their eyes and we will all know about it from a negative perspective, discreditation in action.

It's all a game of education, violence destroys any useful education, violence is connected with peaceful protest, the message is lost, so anyone who protests must act peacefully and within the law and where the traditional peace keeping is suspect, police themselves, stick together and use the modern media, camera phones at the ready.

As to face it, Youtube ''Broadcast yourself''

Who needs traditional media.

tazzygirl -> RE: 32 Pictures From Occupy Wall Street Protests (10/10/2011 6:46:03 AM)

Civil disobedience has deep roots both in the US and world wide. It has for many centuries, and will continue for many more, to effect changes. It is violence others are hoping to see at these rallies. Something the movement is definitely against.

heartcream -> RE: 32 Pictures From Occupy Wall Street Protests (10/10/2011 10:18:23 AM)

Alan Grayson (Former Representive Florida, Economist for three years) on Occupy Wall St

He says awesome clarifying facts regarding Wall Street and the problems with the US economy (not that Canada or elsewhere is much different)

"...If I am a spokesman for all the people who think we should not have 24 million people in this country who cant find a fulltime job, that we should not have for the 50 million in this country who cant see a doctor when they are sick, that we should not have to 47 million people in this country who need government help in order to feed themselves and we shouldnt have 15 million families..."
