Termyn8or -> To Christians (9/30/2011 2:40:07 AM)

If all the tenets of Christianity were extant without the name of Christ, would it be Christianity ?

And if, for example Christ himself showed up and said things are different, would the new tenets be Christianity ?

If He was totally perfect and infallible then, and He then changes, contradicts, or whatever, these tenets, which time was he wrong ? Or lying. The first time or the next ?

Youse people know I pull no punches. I know that Joshua Bar Joseph was one of the greatest Men on this planet ever. Probably the greatest philosopher and would have made onoe of the best world leaders. I have no doubt of this at all. Some say he was born into the wrong time. Well try today ! Just think about it. It wouldn't work now either.

I am not a Christian at all, but I wil say this, if everyone lived by what He said, the world would be one hell of a better place. But we don't so it is not so we have guns and bombs and........ nevermind.

Stop voting for the GOP! That's one way to make this world a better place!

So let me see if I get this straight, Termie....

If some dude, shows up at my house. Wearing 'Air-Jesuses', purple parachute pants, latex sleeveless black shirt, brown leather wrist bands, sporting a anima-ish hair style (that's pink with blue highlights), with tattoos from 14 religions and 10 sci-fi/fantasy shows, and babbles complete nonsense, like he's some sort of second coming......would I believe him?

What would MOST sane people do....Christian or not.....in this situation? CALL THE COPS!

Even if the guy showed up in the 'typical' viewpoint of what Jesus supposively looked like. For us 'white Americans' thats some white dude, with brown hair, brown facial hair, blue eyes, wearing a simple white robe and brown rope belt, with sandals (and underwear....hopefully clean....). And he was babbling he's Jesus and all that second coming stuff? I'd call the cops.....FASTER.

Nope. Christ already "showed up" and said that's not the way things are. They called it "Christianity" anyway.

Bear in mind that Jesus was a middle eastern semite: if one of them showed up at your house talking about his philosophical solutions to all the world's problems, you probably couldn't call the cops fast enough in case he's one of them evil Arab shi'ite jihadist types...

(I'm reminded of that Jesus Of Montreal film. Anybody here seen that one?)

As someone who tries, as much as humanly possible, to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, I feel the biggest problem in Christianity is a form of intellectual dishonesty. Ask 8 out of 10 people who call themelves "Christians" to define the teachings, the " how you should live your life rules" of Christianity, and what do you find? The vast majority of those things they say constitute Christianity don't come from the 4 Gospels, they come from the writings of Saul or Tarsus, AKA Paul.

Those who live their lives following the teachings of the Buddha don’t call themselves “Christians”, they call themselves “Buddhists”. Those who live their lives following the teachings of Mohammed don’t call themselves “Christians”, they call themselves “Moslems”. Those who live their lives following the teachings of L. Ron Hubbard don’t call themselves “Christians”, they call themselves “Scientologists”.

Why can’t those who live their lives following the teachings of Saul of Tarsus AKA Paul be intellectually honest, stop calling themselves “Christians” and just call themselves “Paulists”? Saul of Tarsus may have had some good ideas in his commentaries on the teachings of Jesus Christ, but they have no more validity in how we should live our lives than the commentaries on the teachings of Jesus Christ by my 4-year-old granddaughter (who’s really smart for her age).

Christ is a title not a name. In Greek I think that it is Khristos and means 'the anointed.'

I think that is referred to as "The Second Coming." All sorts of nasty stuff is imminent at that point.

Neither. Humans, not being God, just did not understand everything the first time around.

He was a rabble rouser. That is not the makings of an effective world leader.

Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not. ~Saul of Tarsus (Galatians 1:20)

Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not) ~Saul of Tarsus (1 Timothy 2:7)

I am not a crook. ~Richard Nixon (Washington Post)

The question is, if a second coming did happen, would anyone recognise it, and who is to know it has not already happened ?

As to remember, we now have a branch of control that has the ability to imprison people and shoot them full of stupifying drugs based upon supposed mental illness, with that in mind, what could we have missed out on?

But as to religion, spirituality, belief and all that, to many, perhaps the majority that stuff is a part time hobby, something one thinks of when all the mundanes are out of the way.

But for countries that call themselves Christian countries, I am understanding either the countries do not understand what it means to be Christian, or Christianity itself is flawed.

I also read elsewhere that what Jesus was supposed to have said has through time been misinterpreted, and was it not in Jesus's teachings that he wanted an end to religion, yet a new religion sprung up in his name.

Where people want the ability to control others, they will appeal to that which cannot be proved.

I would usually agree with that sentiment, however in this particular instance you'll find Jews pretty much universally in agreement....

Actually, they don't: a lot of them are far more taken with Leviticus than anything in the new testament, even the ones with tattoos who got laid before marrying. Saul didn't like gays either, but he had nothing on whichever cunt transcribed God's word for that vile piece of shit...
