Cain seems a nice enough fellow, my concern with a pure "busness" person (i.e., having no experience in politics) would be that Government/Politics are not run like a business.  Yes, Cain has some great business "turnaround" successes to his name, but coming in as a CEO and given COMPLETE CONTROL to institute any and all changes that you want to make within a company/corporation is NOT how the Government/Politics works -- the President simply does not have that type of power/control. 

Certainly there are many respects where Government can be run like a business -- and I think it should -- but I'm just not so sure a "pure business" person will be able to have the same impact in politics?!!  Thus, my concern with Cain would be effectiveness.  Granted, one could always argue that he (or any other candidate, for that matter) would be smart enough to surround themselves with advisors to help navigate the "political" waters, but that in itself would require a "learning curve" of sorts.  Obviously FAR too early to tell who'll be the candidate in 2012, but near anybody would be better than the current failure occupying the Oval Office -- regardless of the letter behind their name.

You make some very good points, but looking at the other side of the coin here, look at the mess the professional politicians have gotten us into the last decade and a half....could it really hurt all that much to give someone else a shot?
