quote:

What is three years of unemployment (people getting paid to not work)

Its people being unable to find work.

Corporations laid off... Government laid off... all the while hodling their hands out for money from "the people" in terms of both bail outs and welfare.

quote:

Food stamps

Corporate welfare and no jobs.

quote:

Cash for clunkers

http://www.paclunkers.com/announcements/hello-world/

Like that one that was privately funded? who benefited the most? Car companies.

quote:

Weatherization cash, cash for new appliances and HVAC equipment, lighting upgrades...

Weatherization.... http://www.journalgazette.net/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090924/LOCAL/309249996

Cash for new appliances.... yeah... people were just rushing out to buy new stoves and such with that $200 dollar rebate check even though they had no job [8|]

Lighting upgrades.... The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority will receive a $4.5 million Federal Aviation Administration grant as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The grant will be used to fund the replacement of more than 2,000 runway and taxiway lights with energy efficient light emitting diode (LED) fixtures.
So while people were looking at how to pay the rent, businesses were dipping for even more money.

And, again, how many of those who lost jobs were able to afford any of this?

Its just more of the lefts "War on Bussiness".

Yea, the market lost over 2% of its value today!!!!

You guys are doing great!!!

Remember the goal is to have an American "Tahir Square/Arab Spring type revolution"

Which despite sounding romantic at first, has resulted in a Military/Religious Conservative Alliance running the nations, with War on the Agenda, Minorities fleeing in persecution, and a lower standard of living for the people....

But Capitalism will be destroyed!!!!!

yay.....

These kids even are forcing themselves to be arrested for publicity. You could see the police officers didn't want to be there and deal with it.

How many folks lives did they disrupt in blocking the bridge?

How much tax money did they waste with this stupid denying of other peoples rights?

So next year the kids of NYC will get less Education money.

It is disgusting that you guys are celebrating this stuff.

Are the folks say,... trying to get to the hospital, just acceptable collateral damage in your "War on Bussiness"?

To: The 1%
Wall St.
All Cities, USA

Get out of our government. We want our country back.

Sincerely,
The 99%

Because there has been conflicting accounts in the press, we’d like to clarify our reason for occupying downtown Boston. There is no one single issue or demand that summarizes Occupy Boston or the Occupy movement. Occupiers facilitate conversation, discussion and debate around the issue of corporate influence on politics in an attempt to overcome the cynicism and corruption running rampant in this country.

We invite everyone – left, right and center – to join us and join the conversation. Inside Dewey Square is real democracy. It’s a horizontal, leaderless operation which empowers all individuals to participate equally in decision-making, as opposed to the circus of special interest lobbyists or legislators with big business ties in Washington and State Houses across the nation. Come see what democracy looks like and take part in Occupy Boston.

Sanity -> RE: Sweet Picture of the first night of OccupyBoston (10/4/2011 4:39:32 AM)

That is delusional, you are not the 99% at all.

kalikshama -> RE: Sweet Picture of the first night of OccupyBoston (10/4/2011 4:57:33 AM)

I wasn't claiming I was, but quoting from the website in response to kdsub's question about what they want.

However, what makes you say I'm not part of the 99%?

Sanity -> RE: Sweet Picture of the first night of OccupyBoston (10/4/2011 5:53:01 AM)

Because you dont have anywhere 99% of the population behind your kill the rich mentality

tazzygirl -> RE: Sweet Picture of the first night of OccupyBoston (10/4/2011 6:31:31 AM)

We dont want to kill the rich.

farglebargle -> RE: Sweet Picture of the first night of OccupyBoston (10/4/2011 12:16:55 PM)

"The Other 99%" refers to all of us who do not derive our income from dividend checks.

Lucylastic -> RE: Sweet Picture of the first night of OccupyBoston (10/4/2011 5:27:48 PM)

to the person who claimed that the stock fall of 2% was caused by the "terrible occupy wall street protests... here is the latest stock results

DOW 10,808.70 +153.41 1.44%
S&P 500 1,123.95 +24.72 2.25%
NASDAQ 2,404.82 +68.99 2.95%
now is that recovery due to the protests too???
gasp!!!!

Theon38 -> RE: Sweet Picture of the first night of OccupyBoston (10/4/2011 5:36:04 PM)

Yes, you do want to kill the rich.

Because those of us who work for a living and are wise with our money are supposed to take care of the foolish. And when they come to take my money from me, they're going to have to do it with force.

IE: Kill the rich.

Or do you think those of us who work hard for a living and are the "haves" will just lie down and give everything to the "have nots"?

You don't seem foolish and naive, but heck, if you believe that, I have a profitable solar company to sell you.

Lucylastic -> RE: Sweet Picture of the first night of OccupyBoston (10/4/2011 5:39:42 PM)

When the haves earn it on the sweat of their own brow... I got no problem with it.

When the haves earn it on the sweat of others, then toss them out on the street and say.. fuck you... then we got problems.

And that is what is happening in this country.

Given the fact you're not a participant... and are so far off the mark, it's comical  I'll just cut to the chase and tell you you're full of shit.
When you want to talk like something besides a McCarthyistic Kook, let me know. Till then ...
