Well for one thing, you will now start running into smart-asses half your age who think that this notion of learning from experience is an evil plot designed to impugn and marginalize the infinite wisdom of youth.

Happy Birthday! [:D]

K.

Wait! I know these beings you speak of, the ones I met called themselves sons...

I'm not at that milestone yet, but have on more than one occasion had to call my cousin and ask her how old I am, lol. Yes, I literally forgot my age.

Best advice I could give you?

Always trust your gut instincts. At 50 (and having seen your posts), you have developed them. Go with your gut and you won't have regrets.

Everything we do, even those things we wouldn't repeat aren't mistakes, they were experiences that brought you to where you are now. Without them, you would have taken a different road.

People used to ask me if I regret marrying my ex husband. He is a huge asshole, the marriage sucked. But I don't regret it at all. Without that marriage, I never would have fallen into the career that I loved.

There is a huge difference between "regret" and saying if you had to do it all over again you wouldn't repeat the experience. Of course not! Hindsight is always 20/20.

fuck, words of wisdom for you, eh? ok, here goes.

1. question your beliefs constantly.
2. question authority and do not trust it. those in positions of authority have ulterior motives.
3. the happiness that comes from achieving things that benefit yourself is ephemeral and fragile, it depends on external factors, true lasting happiness comes from within from a satisfaction not in what you have acquired or accomplished, but in who you are. and the best way to get that is to achieve things that benefit others.

I'm late to this so please allow me to add my birthday wishes.
Going by your pic and your request for things to learn, I'd suggest belly dancing.
Oh yes by cracky.

OK, this officially means that you've hit the mark.  Happy Birthday!

My piece of wisdom for you?  I have to go with this.........

Grandchildren, whether you have them yet are not, are the most awesome people in the universe.  You don't have to work nearly as hard to raise them and you get all of the fringe benefits.  They love you darn near unconditionally, they keep you young, and they make your world spectacular.

refuse to end your days with teh words "if only..." or "I wish I had..." on your lips...

With age comes wisdom.

Or age comes alone.  You never know.

OMG, thank god I had no drink in my mouth right now.....thanks for that one Stevie....

Happy Birthday young lady [:)]

One of the wisdoms I like is this one (though not sure if it comes accross properly with being translated), anyhow, it goes: "don't dream your life...live your dreams"

...now...I certainly did it....just not quite sure if I lived my dream or my worst nightmare but hey ho, I did it [:D] and still do [:)]

MadAxeman -> RE: Share the wisdom (10/12/2011 6:18:35 AM)
