StrangerThan -> End the war, tax the rich! (10/12/2011 3:55:21 AM)

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Protesters-march-past-apf-3724531243.html?x=0

There are points in the protest that just about anyone can find to support. The issue is, climbing aboard the train. Skip noted in another thread that this movement will end up with the independent voters.

I'm thinking a great many people can and will agree with the initial fight. I'm also thinking that beyond assailing the gates, that support will dwindle. What brings this to the masses is that there are a shitload of people in the US who feel, well fucked, is a about a good a word as any over the maneuvers between government and business over the last 3-4 years. Beyond that, I just don't see a cohesive force. I do see political parties jostling, and notably standing aside until they see if the movement is going to gather enough steam to make a difference.

The question is, what difference? The stated aims, in some cases, would be good for the country in the long run, but not so much in the short run. Seriously, can you imagine the impact on stocks, business as a whole, jobs?

Honestly, looks like a depression in the making, but in reality, I'm not sure we're going to avoid one anyway.

I dont know how many Independent voters will climb on board with the idea of murdering everyone who tries to get ahead

Citizen journalist Ringo captured this speaker at the Occupy Los Angeles camp a few days ago letting the cat out of the bag: After dismissing nonviolence as a dead end, he admits that for the Occupiers to achieve their goals, violence and bloodshed will be necessary:

If getting ahead means you have put your foot on someones neck then how can you not expect to get a cap busted in your ass?

"I do see political parties jostling, and notably standing aside until they see if the movement is going to gather enough steam to make a difference."

After doing a Google search what I see is the most notable Democrats -- including Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barack Hussein Obama -- neither jostling or standing aside but, rather, publically encouraging and standing with the movement hoping it gathers enough steam to get Obama re-elected.

Over the last 3-4 years?

How about over the last 30 years since Saint Ronnie led us down that path.

With George Soros bankrolling them, you would think they could get a little more publicity behind them

mnottertail -> RE: End the war, tax the rich! (10/12/2011 8:10:22 AM)

Well, I think its Adolf Hitlers bankrolling of the republicans that scares everyone off.

Could you possibly supply some proof for that last bullshit post sanity?
You can't possibly expect us to just take your word for it...can you?

mnottertail -> RE: End the war, tax the rich! (10/12/2011 8:17:48 AM)

rightists cannot debate the actual issues at hand and must instead resort to these constant derails, BS personal attacks & ad hominems etc is to everyones detriment.

So you will not see anything amounting to even suspect proof from him.

You live in idaho and you seem to have heard of them...They are even being covered by your favorites, rush and faux. In addition the news media seems to be quite clutterd with reports of this phenomena.

The real fucked feeling started coming about around the time we started bailing out companies.

Predictions for a housing bubble bursting occurred long before that, in the time frame when credit ran like water down a creek, and the stock market was bouncing merrily along towards the highest marks ever. You know, the time frame that could end up being our own version of the roaring 20's.

OrionTheWolf -> RE: End the war, tax the rich! (10/12/2011 9:41:29 AM)

~FR~

And now you have pissed off former middle class Americans that are unemployed and actually see what the job market is like. Working their asses off for $8 to $9 an hour in jobs that used to pay a lot more, with more benefits. They realize that with the devaluing of their homes, the reduction in their income, and struggling day to day, that something is not right, and some even now realize it has not been right for a long time.

This is not so much about just taxing the rich, but stopping the looting of our country of the economic power it once had, all in the name of profit and people who are msarter getting ahead. Will it fucking matter if someone gets ahead, when the economy is still in the toilet, yet our supposed public servants are spnding like spoiled floozy with credit cards that have no limit?

The problems are with the power elite, on both sides of the isle. This movement will gain some political power somewhere, so it can be controlled and guided for someone else's political ends, and the promises of change. Until the people get sick of the power elite (both sides of the isle), the royalty of the US (politicians and the corporations and special interest that fill their campaign coffers) and of the normal business as usual BS the politicians actual conduct, it will not end, it will just be another news story.

lobodomslavery -> RE: End the war, tax the rich! (10/12/2011 9:45:03 AM)

Unfortunately democracy is not centered on catering to everyone's needs it is instead not of the people by the people for the people which is idealistic claptrap but not reality, it is of the political and business elite by the usage of the funds of the ordinary people, namely taxes and stealth taxes imposed on those who can least afford them , whilst the rich get off scott free, for the political and business elite

Ja, not quite. It is the will of the majority, ostensibly. That's what has been missing here for a while.

Probably more Independents than anyone else, really. Soccer moms are democrats. The crazy dreadlocked anarchist types are all Independents or third party.
