HR 358 lets a hospital turn away a woman even if her doctor needs to terminate a pregnancy to save her life... Fucking insane catholics.

Well, yes, yes it does.... quote: A Federal agency or program, and any State or local government that receives Federal financial assistance under this Act (or an amendment made by this Act), may not subject any institutional or individual health care entity to discrimination, or require any health plan created or regulated under this Act (or an amendment made by this Act) to subject any institutional or individual health care entity to discrimination, on the basis that the health care entity refuses to-- ‘(A) undergo training in the performance of induced abortions; ‘(B) require or provide such training; ‘(C) perform, participate in, provide coverage of, or pay for induced abortions; or ‘(D) provide referrals for such training or such abortions.

thats the problem with someone who doesnt know how to read trying to read an amendment to a bill that was so big that it had to be passed to know whats in it. Section (c) above your inserted section (g) remains unchanged: ‘‘(c) APPLICATION OF STATE AND FEDERAL LAWS REGARDING ABORTION.— ‘‘(1) NO PREEMPTION OF STATE LAWS REGARDING ABORTION.— Nothing in this Act shall be construed to preempt or otherwise have any effect on State laws regarding the prohibition of (or requirement of) coverage, funding, or procedural requirements on abortions, including parental notification or consent for the performance of an abortion on a minor. ‘‘(2) NO EFFECT ON FEDERAL LAWS REGARDING ABORTION.— ‘‘(A) IN GENERAL.—Nothing in this Act shall be construed to have any effect on Federal laws regarding— ‘‘(i) conscience protection; ‘‘(ii) willingness or refusal to provide abortion; and ‘‘(iii) discrimination on the basis of the willingness or refusal to provide, pay for, cover, or refer for abortion or to provide or participate in training to provide abortion

Catholics place equal emphasis on the mother and the child. They would attempt an early induction of labor and try to save them both. I can't think of any time when intentionally killing the child saves the mothers life that delivering the child early also wouldn't save the mother's life.

Damn glad I don't pay for this bullshit. This is what they should be wasting your time on with all these problems in this country ? Yeah, though it doesn't ACTUALLY say that it should. But your tax dollars are going to pay those million monkeys with typewriters, not to type Shakespeare this time, but to craft the "laws" of a nation. Really, how many people does it take to write this shit ? How long did it take them to put together the PATRIOT act which makes the NY phone book look like a business card ? They don't work for free. The other problem I have with this is that anyone even knows about it. This is the only pending bill on the hill ? Hang on here, I think there is more than one bill on the hill and this thing is probably just goinng to go down in flames like that one three days ago, seven days ago, ten days ago, two weeks ago, get the picture ? But this one deserves coverage. This one is the one that is important. Interrupt the fucking soap operas ! It doesn't matter if we live, what matters is how we live. T^T
