Termy, you just have to know how to have some fun here.

I got 'pulled aside' by two cops when just walking home from the grocery store. They drove into the parking lot in front of me and jumped out of their car sprightly.

Why was I a suspect? For whatever?

Because I was walking, the three blocks either way, and not driving an SUV.  They had a mandate from above for this, not their doing. The  senior cop was all about it, but the other one was clearly uncomfortable with the whole affair. After calling in and letting them know that there was further to be had from this, the Seargent I talked to on the phone let me know that the rookie cop decided to quit the next week -precisely-  because of this episode.


There IS hope for the world, dimwit Canadians and US cops aside.

I'd say you're the one deluding themselves. Do you even know any police officers personally? Or is this just another excuse for you to bash someone you view as an authority figure? Girl, you have no clue how good your life is and how lucky you are to live the life you do and have the freedoms you have. Instead of whining about all of the crappy parts of it, I suggest you embrace the good. And if things are so lousy for you, why not make a productive attempt at changing things in a positive way? I really do get the distinct impression from you that it's far easier to bitch about all the negatives than it is for you to celebrate the positives.

Let's talk about a predictable post shall we, how about one where you reply to a post by one of the four of us with some inane comment intended to be an insult that has nothing to do with what was posted, or even to do with reality, and rather than insulting or belittling the one you are responding to it just makes you look rather sad and pathetic.

How is that you ask? Well, you said that I replied the way I did to Edwynn's post because it reflected poorly on me. How does it reflect on me in any way? I hadn't posted prior to his post, so it couldn't have anything to do with me.

I would add something here calling your intellect into question, but really there's no need, you manage to do it so very skillfully all on your own.

See, here's a perfect example of what I just said. When Termy said it, it was not worth noting, when Edwynn said the same thing he had "an ounce (or more) of truth" to what he said, but when Hanners said it, somehow it morphs into her being delusional and a do nothing whiner.

You might have noticed, that she wasn't whining at all in her post, nor was she referring to her life in any way. You really do need to pick your times to attempt to be snarky with more care, you are contradicting yourself in two consecutive posts here.

Again, I would add something here calling your intellect into question, but, as you have done so yourself with such consummate skill right here in this thread, I feel anything I might add would be superfluous.

amazingly enough,  i have to agree with hannah; this has kind of been my attitude about  cops since i was young, and growing up watching them harass all the people who looked like me.
they even came onto land we owned (when they had no legal business to do that) and tried to bully people who were hanging out there, and my brother quoted enough of their codes back to them, they had no choice but to leave.

i don't believe cops are there to protect me or to help me. i never have, and i never will. =p  i have met some good cops who really do want to help people and really do love their job, but they are the minority, i am absolutely positive.

Status: offline 		Yeah, I've lost count of the number of times the police here have ignored drivers committing driving infractions - until it's time to get the quotas up. Then they set up a couple of cars at an intersection and stop drivers. I have absolutely no faith in the police here, whether they do something is greatly dependent on public outcry.

They did not harass only people who looked like you, Lilly, sorry if you missed out on history or contemporary r/l in that regard.

This white teenager (~35 yrs. ago) was incessantly accused of stealing milk from front porches as delivering newspapers. Cops were bored at that hour, nothing more to it. (for those lacking such awareness, milk was provided on delivery to the door in those days).

My nephew is now doing 3 years in prison for 3 pounds of weed because his roommate had an illegal gun. Happy now?


No question, the attack on poor people is effectively an attack on black people, to some extent, because that's where the statistics have it. But I am seeing a much larger problem here.

Easy E is the only one who did the right thing out of that crowd. The rest were easily tamed by movies and TV series and such.


Grand Master Flash, not to mention Marvin Gaye were doing the same thing in much better words 10-20 years prior to that. Let's just throw James Brown under the bus, while we're at it.

Here's the latest flash, folks:

China in the last few months just now dredged up some sunken USSR ship (OK,  just moth-balled, not actually sunken), but the press has it that China is "going all navy nuclear" on the US now.

Oh PLEASE! people. Get serious if the situation arises. The UK and the US and Russia have nuclear capability beyond bounds.
