In my home I am surrounded by pictures of my two sons. Skiing trips, vacations, grade school photos, you name it, I've taken a picture of it. I look at them constantly and I miss them soooooo much, their youthful innocence that is.
Now, I'm looking at teenager's with piercings, goth clothing, tattoos and a mind of their own. Don't get me wrong here, I am completely cool with their individuality, but damn I miss the little guys in the photos.....It seems like such a short time ago that I was coloring Easter eggs with them...and now I'm looking at two more years and they are both grown and gone. Two more years, which will fly by like the blink of an eye.......Damn time flies!
Old crusty Fart, Kevin

it certainly does - i miss my childhood so damn much - it wasn't the best, but it was better than what's going on right now.

I hear you Kevin! Mine is 14 and just graduated 8th grade. I was putting her certificates away in her box and got to looking at the cards she made me in grade school, the pictures of her at Christmas and Easter and all the other many memories I have a sweet, little girl. Now I have a hormonal, part Gothic, "leave me alone!!" child, that only wants me when it's time for dinner or when she needs her hair put up in a pony tail. My mom tells me it will get better soon and she will once again be my sweet girl. Until then I am thinking some Gypsies might like her for a few years.

I have a teen that is 6 foot 4 and built like a football player.... He doesnt have any piercings as such, and his hair is the usual crew cut style,... but he isnt my little guy anymore... In fact he can pick me up and throw me in the pool. I know what ya mean Kevin... I mourn the loss of my baby sometimes too. But I am also looking forward to some "me" time when he goes off to college too...lol

Yes, we are all on the same page here. I too want "me" time and I do look forward to that.
I also look forward to the teens coming out of the "me, me, me," stage that they're in. I know they will return to their own bodies and sound minds and become loving and fun again, not to mention...respectful.
I just don't currently know, how long I shall have to wait.
Life is precious and so are our children.....Now, where'd the lil bastards go with my car?

I completely understand what you are saying.  My baby is graduating from High School this Saturday.  It seems just like yesterday that she was going to Kindergarten and was worried what to do if she had to fart in class lmao.  She almost killed me when I put that story in her "Senior Memories" page of her yearbook.  I said it's a parents privilege to embarass them. *eg*

Oh boy Kevin I can relate to this one big time especially today.....Not to takeover your thread but I picked up my 12 yr old today and he asked me if he could have money to take "his girlfriend" just a little girl in his class that he meets with his friends to play ball with, a few phone calls but nothing else really, out for pizza. I gave him a few dollars. He got home about an hour ago and i walked into the room and he says "she kissed me on my neck" i said WHAT? he said yeah i went to hug her and she was leaning in to kiss me goodbye and got my neck. I sat on the floor next to the couch and he turned his head away from me. I asked him if he liked it? how it felt? and he got embarrassed, told him no reason to be I was his mom. But damn i looked away and started getting all teary...........I couldnt believe that bugged me lol, I have been watching my mother cry for weeks now, everytime she thinks of my brothers wedding saturday she cries cause hes her baby. I laugh at her but deep down i know how her relationship is with my brother and I can only hope i have the same with my boys.
ahhhhhhhh damn im a mush today

I hear ya loud and clear, Kevin.  My older son just graduated from college with a double major in business administration (marketing and finance).  His younger brother just got promoted into a management training program at his job and is about to become a father himself next month.  (Which makes me that G-word....yikes!)

I look at photos of these two MEN that now live their own lives and I can't believe that "yesterday" I used to reach down for their hands to cross the street, push them on swings and coax them, no, beg them, to go down the sliding board already!  Instead of apple juice in sippy cups they drink beer from bottles when they want to.  Instead of riding BMX bikes they drive cars.

It's unbelieveable how fast the years went by.  I always say, cherish the little ones now because tomorrow they're gone.....

awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww Makes me so glad I have a small munchkin. I found his baby pictures a few days ago, when he was only a few days old and a few months old, him chewing on my chin and other places. I miss my baby, but every day brings new memories, I don't even wanna THINK of him being in HS. Heck, they are starting to plan my 10 yrs HS reunion and we haven't even been out for 8 years yet. Time flies, but its a learning experience I would not trade for the world.
Think about it this way Kevin, once you boys are out of the house, you will have more time to torment a submissive or slave to your hearts content wihtout having your sons 'accidently' walk in on anything.

And windchymes this comment you made..........I look at photos of these two MEN that now live their own lives and I can't believe that "yesterday" I used to reach down for their hands to cross the street, push them on swings and coax them, no, beg them, to go down the sliding board already!  Instead of apple juice in sippy cups they drink beer from bottles when they want to.  Instead of riding BMX bikes they drive cars.

Just made me cry.............damn what is wrong with me today? I am totally going to lose it when my mom has to dance with my brother....anyone ever hear the song "the perfect fan" from the backstreet boys? well that is the song i told my brother he should dance with my mom, he said hell no im not dancing to the Backstreet boys, but when i made his fiance listen to it...i won lol needless to say if you have heard it or can listen to it listen to the words it will get to you if you have sons

Awwwwwwwww, now ya'll have gone and made me all mushy over Thing One and Thing Two.  They're not my babies anymore, but they will always be my babies.  My daughter is 14 and just graduated 8th grade.  She's smart, she's talented (she made a 100 on her art final) and built in such a way that adult women are jealous of her.  I'm gonna hafta get my gun license (cause I can do that in Texas) and start carrying, just so I can shoot the dirty old men that check her out.  And the young ones, too, dammit!  My son will turn 11 in a couple of weeks.  He still likes to sleep in Mom's bed once in a while.  I was watching him the last time he did.  He's got all these freckles on his nose and cheeks.  And his cheeks are still baby soft and I can't imagine whiskers growing out of them.

*sighsssssssssssss and sniffles and reaches for the kleenex and kicks Kevin under the table for starting this whole thread*

My daughter is graduating from 8th grade this year too.  She's not goth and she still like to hang out with mom.  She's my best friend and I love her to pieces.  Now my son...well that's an entirely different thread.

My Mom and I were just talking about this earlier this evening.  She was saying that it seemed like only yesterday she brought me home from the hospital.  She said she remembered waking up exhausted in the middle of the night to feed me.  It was dark and everyone else was asleep.  She sat there and rocked me and fed me and told herself to remember every detail of that moment because it would go by too fast.  She took a mental picture of the moment.  She said that she can still remember the way I felt in her arms, the way my hair curled, the baby smell, every tiny little detail.  She said she couldn't believe that it was nearly 23 years ago (in a couple of weeks), and that I'm about to have one of my own.  Time goes too fast.

Great, now I'm crying.  Shhhh... none of you know that.
