Doeas anyone watch those makeover shows? There's one with a couple of Brit gals, one's called Trina? Anyway, I saw a few of them and was appalled at what some folks think looks good. Truly, some of them were bleeding delusional...but still, shouldn't they be entitled to their bad taste? It could be that their choice of fashion is the one thing they have total control over!

MadAxeman -> RE: Overly painted female faces (10/16/2011 7:16:33 PM)

Trinny and Suzannah.
Obviously this holds little appeal for me.
One is a bulimic, the other a coke fiend.
They are considered a joke here.
How can two bitches who dress like Pakistani golfers advise anyone about clothes?
They pick on the ascetically challenged and improve them...marginally.

Yes, them! So much funnier than the pair who do the US show!

anyone use bareminerals? I'd love to know if it worth the money..

It's worth every penny! And, really, at $25.00 for the foundation, not all that expensive, you only need to buy it every few months. It has solved all of my skin issues since moving to Louisiana.. land of Humidity!!

Try the starter kit, and see how it works. I use the mineral veil too, and am collecting eye shadows.

It says a lot about yor makeup when people notice, and ask what you use! I get compliments quite often.

LillyBoPeep -> RE: Overly painted female faces (10/16/2011 10:47:06 PM)

how many months does it last you? how often do you wear it?

i could make a sample size from everyday minerals last about 2 months, and it was only $2.50 =p

xXsoumisXx -> RE: Overly painted female faces (10/16/2011 11:08:44 PM)

I wear it daily..and in the hottest of summer days i have touch ups.

even if it lasts 2 months.. it is a sunscreen, and also has cleared up other skin problems, break outs, etc, from the humidity/sweating, so it is worth it just for those reasons.. the beauty benefit is a bonus! The best thing about it is that it stays put, most days, from 6 am to late eve, 9 or so.

i need a good sunscreen, my skin is very fair. I wear the lightest shade. i found i can't use the 'warmth" bronzer, too dark, so i use my clinique blusher, then the mineral veil.

i haven't read all replies so maybe repeating here.

there is a trend here in the uk for some girls to look like their mother slept with a cheesy wotsit. they really are orange with that crappy mask look and tide mark on the neck. i just don't get why there is this craze for mass caked on makeup. it's just ugly and marks all their collars too (clothes that is) so they just look like they haven't bathed for weeks.

my friend wears far too much makeup too, not the orange look, but still. i've told her it looks awful too and that she is so much prettier without it. the trouble is is that she has worn it for so long she needs the mask to hide behind. i've also seen a program that i think is called 'marry, snog, avoid' or some such. they take an overly made up girl and dress her down and 'naturalise' her. some of these girls are so deluded as to how they think other people view them it's unreal. they always look better after just for getting rid of the slap.

i rarely wear makeup, but if i do i still never wear foundation or anything other than some aloe-vera cream on my face. lippy is a rarety too unless a special do out or i'm wearing red to specifically leave marks. as is heavey mascara, unless it done for effect and runability. were i to be into the girlies then all slap would have to be removed before i'd go near them.

The very best makeup in the world is a genuine smile and a spark in the eye that says I'm happy to see you.

I think this statement should be made the quote of the day. I love it.

.... This topic reminds me of a SNL skit....
Tammy Faye Baker School of Cosmetology Makeover Kit.  Comes with sixteen different sizes of spatula for applying.

I just assume they like the way they look in it.  Different strokes for different folks.

I don't wear a whole lot, myself.  And so far the only product I've found that doesn't cause an allergic reaction is Aveda.  I tried Loreal liquid foundation recently (because it was there, cheap, and I was out of my own stuff) and OMG my face itched so badly I wanted to rip it off.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Overly painted female faces (10/18/2011 6:37:07 AM)

I am allergic to Mary Kay and Jafra!! And Ivory soap. Bizarre, considering how sturdy my skin generally is.

I am thinking of our Irish contingent as I read over this thread. I am wearing eye makeup today! I might put on some lipstick later (beige) Just Because.

littlewonder -> RE: Overly painted female faces (10/18/2011 10:27:32 AM)

I went to a Mary Kay party once. I have extreme cases of eczema and I'm sensitive to just about everything so I ask the consultant about the ingredients, if it's hypoallergenic, etc..She swears to me it's the safest stuff on the market, she's never had any problems with it and I'll truly love it. So she begins a makeover on me and 10 minutes later my face started to balloon up and burn like it was on fire.

Never ever wearing Mary Kay ever again!

I rarely wear much make up because I'm simply too afraid of the same thing happening again. If I do wear it I put it on so that it barely covers and I have to make sure it has certain moisturizers in it to keep me from ballooning again. Sigh
