Tristan -> Submission & Ovulation (10/17/2011 4:50:47 PM)

I just finished reading a book called "Do Gentlemen Really Prefer Blonds" by Jenna Pincock.  The book is about the latest research on the evolution of sex, love, and attraction.  In one section of the book, the author described experiments concerning a woman's preference for short term partners.  During peak fertility, the experimenters claim that women's preferences shift toward dominant men with higher testosterone levels.

Just curious, has anyone noticed the level of D/s in your relationship wax and wan with the fertility cycle?  I'm probably not aware of any past g/f's cycles enough to have noticed this trend.

Thanks.

I can't say that I've been consciously aware of a heightened need for his dominance
during this cycle, but I am more easily aroused physically, so perhaps its my way of
being more receptive...in a roundabout kind of way.

Soooo...what was the consensus? Do gentlemen actually prefer blondes? [8D]

Epytropos -> RE: Submission & Ovulation (10/17/2011 6:55:02 PM)

I've noticed it to a minor extent. Not so much a greater inclination to seek out dominance, more a lesser inclination to be obstinate and oppositional, but definitely a difference.

MissImmortalPain -> RE: Submission & Ovulation (10/17/2011 7:08:03 PM)

Heightened desire for sex...yes(thats nothing new) Heightened desire for him to be dom...no. And if he did got all domish I would more than likely smack him and remind him that he could be replaced with a service droid and I would be just as happpy.

ETA-Yay for spelling errors.

littlewonder -> RE: Submission & Ovulation (10/17/2011 7:17:50 PM)

Yeah I've heard that theory before but it's never applied to me apparently. I've always been attracted to the same type of men..age, looks, mannerisms, etc....I've always been attracted to take charge type of men. I can't ever remember a time when I wasn't. I think a lot of that also has to do with the culture and environment in which I was raised.

i don't know about gentlemen, but heather sure as fuck does.

roscho -> RE: Submission & Ovulation (10/17/2011 11:25:02 PM)

Gentlemen prefer breathing. Blonde? Wait, she'll have hair too? Only a bonus to the breathing requirement of gentlemen.

Whilst I can agree with some of what your saying, I’m not understanding why men would prefer blondes?
Men may not like to hear this but sperm is plentiful and cheap and a woman’s eggs are rare and expensive, therefore its women who carefully consider what genetic materiel is going to give them the best return and not men.
When a woman feels the time is right to produce an offspring and I’m not talking about women who just sleep around and fall pregnant by accident, she will be choosy. Genetics play an important role because our primal instincts are still very in tune with ‘survival of the fittest’. Health, strength, brainpower and sanity are subconscious attractions when choosing a partner to fertilize her egg and so yes, a dominant man or perhaps a leader of men would be an attractive donor.

I read something very interesting recently about male masturbation. Apparently when a male masturbates a lot they remove old sperm, which allows fresh vigorous sperm to a position of readiness and that this in itself produces a pheromone that ovulating women find attractive.

 I prefer blondes i think its a called a choice.

LillyBoPeep -> RE: Submission & Ovulation (10/18/2011 5:50:54 AM)

this article was mentioned in another thread we had about the "type" of person you are attracted to; it's a really interesting article if you've never read it. i know i'm already attracted to larger burly guys, and features that indicate testosterone anyway, but it does intensify with ovulation. and so does my already obnoxious sex drive. i haven't really noticed more of a need to submit, though, just sensitivity to attraction and a general desire for lots and lots of sex. basic biological drives can be really powerful; it's just an internal motor saying "quick! get thyself to the fields and forests! tis the season!"
but thankfully we have all sorts of mental checks and balances that cancel a lot of it out.

I've read the book referenced in the OP, as well as others on the subject.

Basically, men "in general" prefer "dumb blondes" because they are indications of a young, fertile and easily convinced-to-screw female.

It's a little more complex than that, but that's the core.

I'm thinking this would make a great addition to your Hunting The Femsub thread.

1. Know yourself.
2. Treat each person uniquely as an individual.
3. Masturbate...and often! [8D]

^^ that's interesting!

BurntKitty -> RE: Submission & Ovulation (10/18/2011 7:11:54 AM)

Does the book make a mention of horny old menopausal redheads?

There's another really good book called "Sperm Wars" which goes into some theories pretty deep. It was an interesting read.

Yep, 'Sperm Wars' is where I read a lot of this info, I think even the bit about male masturbation and its importance. That is one hell of an eye opener of a book!

Or at least have lots of regular sex!!

LillyBoPeep -> RE: Submission & Ovulation (10/18/2011 10:17:17 AM)

maybe that's part of why a lot of women go after guys who are already in relationships?
