I know there a is a difference between being a pet and a slave but I just wanted to know what the key difference is.
I mean I like to be humiliated and talked down to as a slave but also in the same way as a pet.
any Mistresses here need a pet/slave?

A pet is but a toy for entertainment, a slave is one possessed, a belonging. Slavery is a commitment with no recourse, a pledge for life. A slave is to adore and obey her owner, this is all, she has but to obey and through this thereby become fulfilled and as one with her purpose.

Be at peace

Just titles or pet names for use in whatever way you want. when I hear 'pet' used I think of an animal or person who is kept as a 'lesser' member of the family, usually belonging to one person in particular, and is treated as such, but may not exactly be 'obedient' all the time. Afterall, my cats certainly don't do what I tell them! but there's mutual love all the same.
'slave' by comparison I see as more of an object or possession who is -expected- to obey, and while love may or may not be part of the equation, they usually have slightly different responsibilities.

Of course this is just my context for the two words, each person will have their own definitions and expectations inside a relationship or power exchange. Best not to get hung up on specifics and just enjoy whatever names you're given inside a relationship.

Your Domme can call you whatever she wants to call you, but if you'd like to split hairs, I'd say a pet is someone who's kept for amusement and companionship, whereas a slave does those things but also has responsibilities to their Owner.

On the other hand, my pet means as much to me, as calling him my slave could mean..so best not to say what terms mean to everyone.

YMMV.

Opinions differ as I am sure you can tell. This is only mine you may find a different meaning in each word...

Pets are companions that live on a level slightly lower than other humans. They give us affection when we need it. They hope for but do not demand afffection in return.

Slaves live far below any level another human would ever be on. They are property, tools, and would never expect our affection in return for what they do.

The difference in the two is that many love their pets, but few love their tools.

There are words like that which have their own definition depending upon the House. In our House a pet is a fun companion, loving, submissive, but not typically counted on. That is the slave's job, the one who always gets things done, who would stop a bullet for her Master if need be.

The 'Master/Mistress  slave' relationship is kind of the highest you can go. It's like marriage. There's commitment there. There's a real, relationship. One that goes beyond what happens in the bedroom.

Some people are willing to be considered a Master/Mistress to anyone they meet who wishes to be submissive - just for conversations sake.
By the same token, some people offer themselves as slaves without a 'relationship' just because they want to be used 24/7 for their own fantasies.

Some Dominants won't accept that.

"Pet" is often used as a nickname to those in a D/s relationship. Like 'dear' or 'darling' or 'honey' or 'baby' would be in a vanilla relationship.

Claiming to be 'a pet' can also mean that you are a submissive who is being used as a dog, cat, or other animal that is devoted to a Master. ie: "I am His pet".
"Pet" can also be used randomly, as a way of saying "you're a good submissive, I like you". ie: "you're such a lovely pet".

There's really no hard and fast definition for some of these words. Everyone makes it what they want it to be, according to their own tastes.
