Okay, what gives with the spam that comes from future dates? I was looking through my spam folder to see if I could find a renigade e-mail a friend sent me and I see junk e-mail dated 10/28/11.

I usually don't pay my spam folder any mind but every now and then I have to hunt down an AWOL e-mail that I need and every time I do I come across the same thing... This just happens all the time, now what I want to know is how and why?

Its not a big deal, and really rather silly but I'm curious.

Ah well, useless junk mail - no solid idea why it could be, perhaps it's just a different date format (i.e. 28th november 2010)

Or perhaps someone's reset your main calendar on the computer two to three weeks ahead, though it wouldn't be just spam mail doing it then.

I wonder what a futuristic spam mail would be like... I'm leaning towards the Futurama version of beating off flying adverts

1. Dates are easy for computers to get wrong. There is no standard format - European vs American style is just the most obvious problem (Is 8/7/2011 October 7th, 2011 or July 8th? Depends on if you are American or British).

2. Computers that send out spam sometimes have been hacked. That process sometimes messes up the date.

3. Some worms/computer viruses activate on certain dates, and some people deal with this simply by setting the date to a wrong one.

4. Time travellers have the best viagra. Cheap too!

"(Is 8/7/2011 October 7th, 2011 or July 8th? Depends on if you are American or British)"

No it depends on something else. 10/7 or 7/10 have nothing to do with August which is 8.

But despite the math error the lottery numbers will be 3-55-13-42-66-83-47-55-69-8-14.

If you want the date you will have to mail me in the future.
