hi,

i was not sure whether this should belong in health and safety or not, but decided to leave it here as it's not bdsm related.

i'm getting a tad worried as my hands and feet have been extremely cold and tingly for the last couple of days - far more so than usual, in fact normally my extremities remain toasty!  the best way i can describe the sensation is that it is the same sensation as one may get in their hands from having their wrists tied too tightly for too long, except mine haven't (*humph* - but that's another issue!)

anybody have any idea what this is all about?

many thanks

siouxie

My Across-The-Large Pond diagnosis would be incomplete without an in-person examination, but, I'm thinking that you have some issues with blood circulation. A number of things can cause these symptoms that you're complaining about; sitting on a runged chair, folding your legs or feet beneath you, name it and it can be a contributing factor.
An hourly journal or examination of your actions or lack thereof should point at the problems areas.

You really should not try to get medical advice online but rather from your own doctor. There is no way of knowing the qualification or agenda of whomever may reply and its not worth risking your health.

oh crikey - i'm not going to take any medical advice, if i think it's serious i will see my doctor. i just wondered if anybody had had similar, or could suggest anything. i wouldn't take anything on here as gospel, and certainly wouldn't rush out to the shed and chop my hands off if someone recommended it!

If it were just your hands I might suggest carpal tunnel (which I "most likely" have as well... I didn't see the point in going through the painful testing to be told to go easy and wear braces when I can simply just do that and avoid the large medical bill.) More or less for your feet too.. pinched nerves and all.

It could be a circulation issue or as others mentioned a medical issue.  I almost constantly have cold hands and feet from my hypothyroidism.  A lot of with chronic fatigue syndrome suffer from it as well.  In order to keep my feet from getting too cold I try not to sit for too long.  Getting up and moving around a bit should help with your circulation and possibly un-pinch those nerves you might be disrupting.

It sounds like it's just poor circulation.  Do your hands and feet swell up at all when it happens?  I guess I'd recommend rubbing your hands briskly together and shaking them out for a few minutes when it occurs to see if it makes you feel any better.

If they were 'just' cold.. my first thought would be circulation.. but since you have the tingle with it, that might be nerve related.. time to make a doctor's appointment and find out.

Good luck to you!

See a doctor but it sounds like Raynauds Syndrome.

Thank you everybody for your responses.  twicehappy - i read that link, and it's interesting that they point to emotional stress, as that has been the only factor in my daily life that has changed in the last 3 days.
