I'm not fond of visible marks.  There are just so very many places on the body that marks can be placed that will be covered with clothes.

Marks left in visual places just scream insecurity to me.  The driving need for the whole, wide world to know a relationship exists.

Most of the world isn't into wiitwd, and would probably assume one's either clumsy or being non-consentually abused.

I love my souvenir bruises, but not for vanilla people to see them.

Once I had a particularly brutal caning the day before a GYN exam and told her before I got undressed, "You're going to see bruises. They were consensual."

Endivius, the falling off the toliet part of your comment made me laugh. Lol.

I bruise pretty easily so it's not hard to leave a mark. I love looking at the marks afterwards ... makes for lots of smiles when remembering how they got there., but in places that just he and I would see. There have been times where a mark was placed where it couldn't easily be covered up ... sometimes it just happens. How I answered depended on who was doing the asking.

Iamsemisweet -> RE: Bruised pride! (10/20/2011 4:49:43 PM)

I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but I bruise very easily.  Sometimes I see myself in the mirror and find that I have enormous bruises or scratches, and I have no idea how I got them.   I think my friends and co workers are pretty used to seeing me with bruises and being told I don't remember how I got it.
If anyone is truly concerned about bruises in visible places, I got a concealer kit from my plastic surgeon that is used post surgery.  It has about 4 different colors of concealer in it, designed to cover various bruise colors.  Those babies work like a charm!

Any good excuses for when co-workers or friends spot them?

There is no reason for me to be making excuses about what I do in my own home.

That's how I feel about bruises. [:)]
They are like mementos from a great time that fade slowly away, letting you know when it is time to get new ones.

oneluckysub -> RE: Bruised pride! (10/20/2011 6:52:36 PM)

I prefer that the markings not be visible outside of my clothing. I am not ashamed of the bruises but I dont want to explain my private doings with non-participants so I want to avoid having to explain them.

In pretty much any relationship I have ever been in I have always ended up with marks on my body, often in visible places, very often looking like someone needed to call the battered woman's shelter.
Anything from hickey or choke marks on the neck, bruises or cuts on the arms, rope burn once(never saw that clumsy fuck again) or welts from various hitty things.
Its one of the reasons I started playing paintball, so I would have an easy way to explain it all away at work.
However when my friends ask me, I rather enjoy makign up random stories, or flat out telling them the truth because I don't have any desire to have the cops called.
I bear them with pride even. I love my marks!

Marks are part of the territory, that's about it really.
No. Unless it's a "black eye" why would either of us care?

We aren't THAT careful, quite wild, in fact, but we don't want to worry people we care about either. Basically we just don't go mad unless we have the TIME to.

Most bits of me that he bruises aren't on display. I can be as proud as I like ( if I was) without having to explain a thing. Or I can wear long skirts or something?

He doesn't want me walking around looking like I need rescueing from something. It's bdsm , not a religion.

I'd love to get some of that!!

MistressLilliana -> RE: Bruised pride! (10/21/2011 8:20:58 AM)

I can see why some would wish to have marks covered but being as open as I am I fully understand taking pride in the marks. My last sub loved his marks because they came form me. Can't help you with cover up stories but I can say that there are some really great quality tattoo cover up make ups out there that work on dark bruises. You can look them up online pretty easily. They are made to hide tattoos on actors and such for movies or on stage. That way if the bruise is bad enough and in a visible area and you have to go to work or something you can cover it up and not worry.

Aynne88 -> RE: Bruised pride! (10/25/2011 6:00:53 AM)

I hate marks showing I think nothing is skankier than a hickey or a bunch of bruises showing on someone's upper arm area. I am fair skinned and bruise easily and I can't be meeting with client's (real job) or bartending at night (fun job) looking like I was in a brawl or beat up by my man or worse...a bunch of hickey's on my neck. Keep it to my covered areas or we won't be engaging in any impact play for long.

Hillwilliam -> RE: Bruised pride! (10/25/2011 6:05:42 AM)

I always take care to leave marks where they don't show to the nilla public. Domestic laws being what they are in this area, if someone ELSE reports suspected abuse, My odds of going to jail go way up.
