ORIGINAL: StrangerThan http://finance.yahoo.com/news/US-misery-index-rises-to-rb-3376231513.html?x=0&.v=1 Tell me again why food and gas should be exempt from inflation figures? I mean hell, we're in the midst of endlessly dissecting Cain's tax plan to show the impact on the poor, when the same folks spend a higher percentage of their income on the two things we don't count. well, of course thats not counted, silly! The govt has appearances to keep up after all.. just like how the unemployment rate doesnt include the unemployed that have given up looking, or the under-employed or the other various disqualifications that skew the number.. I mean seriously, if ya told people the real unemployment rate and real inflation rate.. well,.. well,.. well, they might just stop paying their taxes!!! But i think thats why the misery index was invented (& other indexes).. to give another view of whats going on.. I personally dont pay attention to the inflation or supposed unemployment rate anyway.. I am surprised anyone does..
