¿What do you think about it?

As for me, there is people whose answers I consider more interesting that annoying, and ones I consider more annoying as interesting. They may write something worthy sometimes, but not so often to compensate the annoyance. Those people I "hide", and so I rise the average pleasure of reading postings :) .

Is nothing personal, I do not "hate" them or something. I usually do not even block them from PM, so if they really want to say me something, they can... even if I block them! They can send me an e-mail, a Skype message, another  in MSN, and easily find me in Facebook and XING. It is not that I "escape" from them as I was accused of doing.

I have some years of using forums, some of them very controversial. I just got used to ... use ... the technologies offered to personalise the forum so that I enjoy it more.

I don't know, that is what I think the options is for. It is just normal.

¿Your opinion?

I really couldn't give a shit whether I'm hidden or not.

The people whose opinions I respect haven't hidden me. Everyone else can inspect the underside of a moving train for all I care. They're just pixels on a screen.

I don't hide anyone. I want to see what my friends write, what people I respect write, what new people write. Those whose opinions I don't care for, I just skip over. Occasionally they will say something interesting or thought-provoking, which I would have missed if I'd used hide.

MadAxeman -> RE: Hiding people. (10/20/2011 1:59:47 PM)

If you're on Skype, I wanna set it to music.

Would that be more interesting than annoying?

Although, if you've hidden me, you can't.

That is annoying.

I've lost interest now.

What da bunny said. I really do find it amusing, Mr. OP, that you think people care that you've hidden them. Generally speaking they/we think it's really funny especially since you've missed really good advice.

Wow I had no idea that there is a connection between that proverb and beating a dead horse. Toooo coool!

Iamsemisweet -> RE: Hiding people. (10/20/2011 2:19:42 PM)

My opinion is that I don't care one way or the other who you hide or why.  It is completely up to you.  I do think your habit of announcing you are hiding people has caused a lot of merriment (not such a bad thing), but really, that is kind of tacky.  Just hide them and be done with it.

Sorry to spoil your fun, TJ.  LOL

LafayetteLady -> RE: Hiding people. (10/20/2011 2:33:47 PM)

Unlike you, I haven't participated in a multitude of forums, just this one. I don't hide anyone on these forums, whether I like them, what they say or not. Personally, I think the feature shouldn't exist. I equate it to a child sticking his/her fingers in their ears and going, "lalalala, I can't hear you, lalalala." If someone doesn't like what I write, don't read it, don't comment on it. I'm sure plenty of people have me on hide, and it bothers me not one bit.

I do, however, find the block feature on the other side very necessary.

xxblushesxx -> RE: Hiding people. (10/20/2011 3:04:04 PM)

I generally don't hide anyone. I just skip over some people's posts if they're continually idiotic. If I *were* to hide someone, I wouldn't go around announcing it as if they're REALLY missing out on me not reading their words of wit and wisdom. When you do that it makes you look like a spoiled whiny child.

Arienos -> RE: Hiding people. (10/20/2011 3:04:49 PM)

I don’t find it necessary to hide anyone; I am the controller of what I read and who I respond to. Personally, I view the majority of your comments so deeply submerges in excessive boasting about your expertise’s abilities and achievements that I am caused to believe they have no other purpose then to draw attention to yourself.

DesFIP -> RE: Hiding people. (10/20/2011 3:09:11 PM)

I wish I could hide people on fl. There's a guy there with his primary pic being his dangly bits tied and blue.Worst is that I only encounter him posting in a food group. Talk about killing your appetite!

Here, I have a couple of people on hide. The ones who are constantly bitchy towards everyone. I just don't want to deal with their negativity. I don't spend time with negative people in real life willingly so why should I subject myself to them online?

It's a useful feature.

This. ^^^^ Every last bit of it. And, I know the OP's blocked me already so he won't see my post. But that's okay, I think he's just a self-important attention whore, or he wouldn't have to go around bragging to everyone about how he blocks people. For some reason, he seems to think we give a shit. [8|]

I think a lot of threads on here are rubbish but some aren't. Sometimes it's just people stating their own opinions and not caring what other people say.
Occasionally however a thread begins to grow, people respond to other people and the thread builds, you could almost say it has a narrative, an arc to it.
You appear to be an intelligent man who has opinions and ideas that would contribute to these threads.
If however the thread you are reading is missing half the posts I don't see how you can sensibly or accurately add to the thread as you will have missed some of the vital points and arguements that have been brought up by your blocked posters

tolovetolaugh -> RE: Hiding people. (10/20/2011 3:31:00 PM)

Never felt the need to hide anyone. I am far to curious, and those blank spots would drive me nuts.

Blocking on the other side though... that I can do.

My policy, too. It's easy enough just to skim by the idiots.
