"speaking" "decline" "stand firm" since when have these become ingredients to making a scene ?

When you raise your voice, deliberately speaking loud to attract attention to yourself, creating a distraction in a security area and refusing to cease when asked.

That's when.

One man's"distraction" is another woman's "protest"... Or as I prefer to view it an "assertions of guaranteed rights" [:D]

So reciting the Constitution about her legal rights is stupid because it was creating a scene? Why do you hate the US Constitution?

Most of them don't hate the constitution .. It's just not as important as conformity is.

Fair enough, I grant you the difference in views as long as you grant me the fact that she created a distraction in a security area. [:D]

We can always count on you to pop in with your mind-reading abilities and cast slurs at people.

I do believe that was her intention.
Now would you care to offer an opinion as to just how much "security" is offered by such areas?
I think she butchered Jeffersons quote a little bit,and don't feel like googling it myself right now but something or other about those who would surrender essential freedoms for temporary safeties receiving neither comes to mind.

I wouldn't say she writes like a sub so much as she writes like an upset little suburbanite emo kid. "I open my veins and I write it all, the fear, the self doubt, the shock, the pain, the indignation" She might as well have said she was bleeding on her laptop while she was at it.

Oh please, I doubt your opinion of the TSA could be lower than mine. The fact remains that in this case at least they were right. You can't allow diversions to develop in a security area.

Deliberating making a scene or not, it has come to such behavior. TSA routinely does what the Constitution does not allow. Either we stand up to them or knuckle under.
She was doing no more than what OWS is currently doing; acting pursuant to the Bill of Rights.

And again we disagree... I think ,were we to continue this,we would simply wind up splitting hairs. Now to be sure there are times when I would welcome such a discussion...I just don't feel up to it now,not today anyway.....just not up to it.

Bet ya a Hundred Dollar bill that quote is Benny Franklin. [:D]

Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

slvemike4u -> RE: This woman kind of brought her troubles upon herself (10/21/2011 2:34:09 PM)

No bet, there was a little voice in my head screaming FRANKLIN....FRANKLIN even as I read her blog...yet I went and attributed it to Jefferson too,I tell you I am off today....just off center and out of sorts.Been a lousy week and I can't shake it.

mnottertail -> RE: This woman kind of brought her troubles upon herself (10/21/2011 2:36:13 PM)

Good thing there was no voice in your head screaming 'BUY HIGH, SELL LOW!!!'

Good point... "perception" meaning whether the onlookers like it or not, is kid of secondary to the "right to"
And if the TSA guys had been on their toes they certainly could have whisked her off to the side and continued their sheep dipping operation.
They often are the ones who choose the real showdown.

The voice in my head can only scream one thing at a time Ron...it ain't like I'm hearing freaken voices yanno.
Voice singular....message singular [:D]

what the fuck? are you fucking serious? you really wouldn't put two and two together? person being searched shouts amendment preventing unreasonable searches - gee willikers i just don't get it. [8|]

mother mary's unused cunt! i tell you man, i've heard of some really fucking slow people, but that just about tops the list.

Re-read the article. She was not being searched when she started spouting the 4th Amendment. It was her turn to pass through the scanner(optional), she turned it down, TSA agent assumed she was worried about radiation and attempted to alleviate any fears. That was when she started reciting the 4th and causing her scene

Unreasonable search means an authority figure cannot just walk up and start searching you or patting you down without a warrant or permission.
It does not give you the right to be a jackass and hold up everyone else that wishes to proceed.

Also, you can keep the insults to yourself. A difference of opinion does not make one person "slower" than the other

Exactly. They should have controlled the situation immediately.

And in that sense, yes, I do agree with you that it was the TSA agents on duty in that situation who were responsible for the escalating disturbance.
