500G fight at Zuccotti

Even in Zuccotti Park, greed is good.

Occupy Wall Street’s Finance Committee has nearly $500,000 in the bank, and donations continue to pour in -- but its reluctance to share the wealth with other protesters is fraying tempers.

Some drummers -- incensed they got no money to replace or safeguard their drums after a midnight vandal destroyed their instruments Wednesday -- are threatening to splinter off.“F--k Finance. I hope Mayor Bloomberg gets an injunction and demands to see the movement’s books. We need to know how much money we really have and where it’s going,” said a frustrated Bryan Smith, 45, who joined OWS in Lower Manhattan nearly three weeks ago from Los Angeles, where he works in TV production.

Yes, it's predictable that you wouldn't understand the issue before embarrassing yourself with your incorrect editorializing predicated upon your willful ignorance.

If they want a disbursement from the General Assembly, all they need to do is get 90% consensus from the other people in the GA.

Isn't Freedom and Democracy great?

Say it to a mirror. It suits you far better because your post fails to address the OP

The OP based upon a quote from a Murdoch organ? Did they get their info by hacking someones voice mail?

Maybe if the OP spent some time understanding what a 'true democracy' was and wasnt, he might understand the problems this 'drummer group' had with the occupy group (and the finance part of that organization). If I understand the post correctly, the author of the article failed to explain what happened (aka bad journalism). The author should have explained why the finance group didnt just give the money to the drummers. Apparently this occcupy group has thought up its own code of laws to give order and civility over chaos.

This group created the 'finance' group to handle the accounting aspects that would/are needed for the organization as a whole to operate. The accounting group (if I were to theorize) does not just give money out when its asked, but a form of 'checks and balances' are in place. There is a 'General Assembly' in which issues are brought to the forum. They are discussed, and arguements both 'for' and 'against' are heard, before a vote is cast (each person in the assembly has one vote, majority rules). That must seem like a strange thought to a conservative (who is used to the 'my way or the highway' form of goverment), but that's REALLY the concept the Founding Fathers had for the country. Not the current 'Party of No' crap that seems to be the norm for the Republican Party, Sanity.

This drummer group either failed to make a good arguement(s) or failed to garner support to his arguement before the vote was made (or both). And now, they are complaining that they failed to understand the democratic process that was in effect at the time. Nothing is stopping them from asking again in the future with better set of arguements and more supportors. Unlike the Tea Party, Sanity, the Occupy Movement cant just ask its corporate 'parent' for funding. The OWS doesnt like the idea of corporations underminding America for profit and greed. The Tea Party seems completely 'at home' with the idea of becoming a slave to the corporations (read: conservative nanny state).
