I mean never mind the fact that they're giving two weeks notice to the IT Team of a private corporation (which is WAY different from screwing with some feeble civil service examer, who may not really have a clue beyond basic firewalling, it just feels like ir would it Fox wanted to get a big ratings boost with a fake hack... or to set itself up as the 'poor victim' of the OWS Movement... Hell they could model themselves after the light in the feet fucks who push and shove to stick their head through the victim gloryhole here.

You might try watching some of the other uploaded messages from the user who uploaded this one.

This one is against the General Assembly at OWS.

This one is against the banks.

This one is calling for everyone to wear Guy Fawkes masks on November 5th.

This one is against the NYPD.

This one is a personal message from anonymous.

This one threatens to hack any businesses who fire employees for having political opinions.

And it goes on. There are 36 videos to date.

Yeah... a Fox publicity stunt.

the skipper simply does not understand anonymous. most people fucking don't. they think it is a group, they think there is an aim, they think there is a goal, they think there is some sort of organization. there isn't. it is more of a fucking flash mob type thing, anybody on earth can call for an attack and whoever the fuck feels like participating does. there is no fucking control or central anything, there are no "members", anybody who wants to post in the name of anonymous is free to do so.

the reasons they announce things with a lead in time is because there is no central fucking network, you have to put out the call publicly, that is sort of the whole fucking point. also, a hacker needs time to test and study the target's defences, it takes time to work your way through the layers of defence. also, fox will now be spending a fucking shitload of money preparing for the attack, which has the effect of cutting into fox's bottom line which really is the only way to hurt a corporation.

i know several people who have participated in many of the anonymous activities, and while i haven't actually done so myself <i suck as a hacker> i have helped them by playing target for them with my seti system.

their last attack on fox only cist about 10,000 dollars worth of damage. im sure the upgrades to their system in their frantic hurry to improve security cost far more than that.

Treasure... I think I've mentioned I've been involved with this thing on a logistic level because as a single father, I can't camp out. One of several things I do is give the boston group their security advice. In fact, if you or anyone have been following the real meat and potatoes stuff, you've been to occupyboston.org and probably nycga.cc or http://occupywallst.org you would have noticed a big change in the structure of the occupyboston.org site. We switched domains and hosts in an effort to brace for the 'anonymous attack' these guys are not organized as well as these videos imply and when they start playing with gateways, more than just their 'targets'. They DID get the BPD and the Their Policeman's Organization which I'll tip my hat since it's the first time they've fucked with two truly unrelated targets in a 24 hour period.
And those youtube links? They are always somewhere else before the tourists get to see em. Browsed a buinch of new ones not on the list you displayed. And the primary reason I think that vid threatening for is a fake is that IT DIDN'T show up in any of the usual places it does first.
And I'd say half of the ones on your list have already been put to bed as fake. But cause there are police agencies involved I ain't getting quoted on anything.
I'll tell you what though, as this whole wikileaks saga lives itself out, I think less and less that the real anonymous are the joke I first thought they were. Otherwise, they are the LUCKIEST M*therF***ers I've ever seen.

The smash and grab done here in Boston was a very real event. I spent my morning coffee telling someone from BPD a million reasons why they can't be related except as maybe fans to the OWS-Boston folks.
By the way... Guess who I bought beers for at the Rhumbline after the hit the ice for a charity gig here in town. One even plugged a cop I don't like with a lift shot (not requested, just icing on the cake).

Man Hanners ... you sure sucked up a lot about what I know/don't know about hackers, particularly these guys, from that short posting. I know how it works. You're absolutely right to a certain extent and yeah there's even the youtube signaling via video... Fact is there's a number of things going on and there's return players and there's wannabees and none of that even people thinking their actually 'helping' with networked computational apps.
I wish it was a real deal for fox, but it's not.

Skipper, you may have mentioned your involvement, but apparently I've not read about it... nor have I been following closely any of the "occupy____" activities. This whole "anonymous" movement is news to me.

I can only say that, while I can understand a group of individuals sharing a login for YouTube, I have a harder time understanding how these supposed "hacking" experts can't keep the same login from being hacked and used to upload fake videos.
