I have a contact whose profile I would like to check out. However when I click on the view profile or their name it takes me to random profiles. Any idea what is causing this? Don't have trouble with any others. Thanks.

they have their profile hidden probably.

Yep, sounds like a hidden profile.

Are you getting a message in big maroon letters saying "Profile not found"?

It's hidden or deleted.

No, it doesn't say hidden and the view profile button is there on the message. We've been exchanging messages so not deleted. hmmm.

My profile is hidden. I did a search of myself and I don't come up and no message comes up saying profile not found...it simply finds the next name in line that is similar to mine.

I'd say he's hidden his profile.

when i clicked on you just now, i got "profile not found."
if you specifically click on someone's name to go to a profile, that's different than a search that simply gives similar results.

this is about clicking on a specific username, which should either redirect you to a "profile not found" page, or to that user's page -- in some cases, for some reason, it instead redirects you to an entirely different one. the name may or may not be remotely similar, and the person may or may not be in a remotely similar location.
