ORIGINAL: TheFireWithinMe quote:
The truth is, many overweight people in my experience give themselves pity parties. Most of them can actually change, but like everything in life, it takes patience and dedication. Bingfuckingo! And I used to be one of them til I accidentally lost 12 lbs after giving up frozen dinners, heh go figure. Yeah my thyroid is part of it but I lost weight (25lbs!) after I stopped making excuses. I also used to say I wanted a guy who would accept me fat and all. But I've rethought it, I'd rather have a guy who looks beyond the fat - and then encourages me to lose weight, not because he hates the fat but because he wants me to be around as long as possible. We can say what we like, there are diseases associated with being over weight and the fat DOES make finding lumps and bumps harder. Fire, true. Twenty five years ago if I hadn't gotten up off my fat lazy ass I'd probbly be 300 lbs by now or...dead. The thing is I'd see fatties for maybe two or three days in a row when out walking, after that, you don't see them anymore! They give up. If you want to lose weight or just maintain your weight excercise and better eating habits have to be a part of your life. The last two weeks I've been at the gym *everyday*, one day 15 minutes treadmill to warm up, then ten total body workout weight machines followed by 30 minutes on the treadmill at "fat burner" intensity. On my "off" days I just do 45 minutes on the treadmill. But, the callories are adding up and the weight is coming off slowly. And my strenghth is way up again from when I started back two months ago. The summers here can be really hot and not condusive to going to the gym so I don't. I'm really pushing myself and will for the next two weeks to really get some progress done then I'll lighten up to 4 or 5 days at the gym. I've always been pretty strong but I want to take it up to the next level. And as for the all you can eat buffets, I might have a salad with rolls, a plate of food then desert. That's it, my body can't handle anymore. I can't understand how some people can eat three or four plates!
