The General Strike is calling upon all students and workers in Oakland to leave their positions on Wednesday and join in solidarity in a march downtown and to attempt to effectively shut the City down.

But according to your own OP theyre going to "march" downtown and  "attempt" to shut the city down.

If they really were the 99% couldnt they definitely shut the city down just by walking off their jobs?

Well "We are the 47%" doesn't look as good on a sign as "We are the 99%," Even if the 99% thing is total bullshit.
