Well I just got hired as a bartender and I have the slow monday morning shifts. I spend most of time just cleaning the same spot over and over (exaggeration). But I do really have a lot of time on my hands and the huge bar is all mine. I would love to invite people in my community that are into the lifestyle to come in and have some fun. The thing is I don't know how to host a Munch can anyone give me some advice on where or how to get started?

first...ask your boss for permission. You may have the bar to yourself but you don't own it. This post reminds me of the teenager who is left alone for the weekend and decides the house is their's so they'll throw a party. We all know how that ends.

Considering most people are working on Monday mornings....it probably wouldn't be very well attended.

well my boss did tell me to create traffic so that is kinda like an open invitation right?

My experience has been that munches are much better attended either on the weekends or in the evenings. The first thing you should do is ask your boss, even if he did say to create traffic. You may work there but you don't own the place. Then you should decide on a good time to have it....Monday morning will probably not do so well with attendance, since most people work on Mondays in the daytime.

What I did is, Daddy and I decided on a good time and location and then posted in the local group for our area on fetlife.com. It's much better for networking for events than CM, where CM is much more specific for locating people. Then it might take a few months to get the attendance up, but don't give up.

I have found that munches are difficult to start. A few people will show up to your first munches, but if you can't find other new people to come then those few people stop attending. We had some munches with a dozen attending as well as some with just Gary and I there. You just never know. Be patient. Be persistant. Advertise in fetlife and start a fetlife group. There are often state bdsm groups on yahoo or fetlife that will let you advertise your munch.

Ok, nothing wrong with a morning munch but the combination of location and timing combined with dynamic leadership are what makes the difference to foot fall and attendance.

Attendance is king so number one... Build a network using all the web sites out there... IC, CM, Fetlife and FetBook.

are you running the munch yourself, or as an extension of the bar?

people meet at restaurants all the time for munches, and it's not a big deal. the owners don't ask the business of every group of people who walks through the door. so you could put out an invitation that this is where you'll be if people would like to come chat with you.

BUT as an employee/representative of the place, you do have different responsibilities, and doing this during your shift might make it seem like it's an extension of the bar itself. the owner of the bar may not like to think that his bar is associated with BDSM, or he might not care. so since you still work for the guy who owns the bar, since you're not an unattached patron, you should probably still run it past your boss.

i think you could just invite people to come talk to you during your shift, but it would be difficult to keep it from being seen as part of the business of the bar during your shift.

I'd suggest caution, and the advice above is all good so far.

Have an ask around on other sites and get a feel for how many would be interested. One of the main things as a munch organiser is to try and make everyone feel welcome and keep an eye out for anyone looking bored/scared and keep them company and introduce to others.

Overall it's the people who make or break a munch, but the above helps hugely, and honestly I'm not sure how easy that would be to do from behind a bar. So i guess I'd add try to find someone else who can help you out as well.
