With the cold weather coming on, those people need the generators for heat.  They aren't even using city power--gas and bio-diesel powered generators along with the fuel.

playfulotter -> RE: This is just heartless (10/28/2011 6:51:57 PM)

They could go home each night and come back if they are cold....I think they should figure out what they are protesting exactly and then come back and be more organized...Here in Los Angeles they are costing our cash strapped city a lot of money each day just to monitor them...We all know what kind of condition the state of California is in right now.

They brought in bike powered generators....

Mayor Bloomberg has warned that the generators won’t be allowed back into the park, so a group of protesters have come up with a novel solution. New York City environmental action group, Time’s Up is looking for volunteers and funds to help power the protests with bike generators. According to the Time’s Up website, “We’ve received funding for 5 bikes but need at least 5 more, and any donations above that will be used to build more energy bikes which will be sent to other occupations.” The bikes are already being used in some park locations, but with the generators gone more are needed.

And why are states in those conditions?

erieangel -> RE: This is just heartless (10/28/2011 7:04:45 PM)

Why is it costing money to "monitor" the protesters??  They aren't doing anything that requires them to be looked after.  All of the violence has come from the police first.  If the police will leave the protesters alone, allow us to have our say-for however long it takes-all will be fine.  But they can't allow that.  The protests must be stopped one way or another.  It is a constitutional right that we protest--and we have chosen to do so 24 hours a day.  That the 1% who control our cities and towns don't care that those cities and towns are cash strapped is evident in the over kill used by the police who I might add are simply following the orders of that 1%.

"Here in Los Angeles they are costing our cash strapped city a lot of money each day just to monitor them.."

Then stop it, there is no probably cause to bother these people. But surely PASNY was behind the generators disappearance. Every fucking conspiracy theorist knows that.

People will need batterise, here comes a check from Duracell or the city ! This is still a joke to the big people. They want it out of our system by election time, and they are going to let it go on. But they are going to antagonize becasue they are looking for people who won't take their shit.

Let's hope they find them too late. Like I said, (not in so many words) is that these people are not really hungry - yet.

I await new developments eagerly, but not stupid shit about the food. About people getting aware and really pissed, and show some fucking gonads. Guns, knives, rocks. What, you think there is a TSA station on the way to a fuckng protest ?

I am looking for trouble.

T^T

erieangel -> RE: This is just heartless (10/28/2011 7:20:24 PM)

I know there is going to be trouble.  Somebody is going to be killed before too long.  But protesters won't be the ones starting the violence, just like it wasn't the protesters who started the violence in Oakland.  Let the police and TPTB harrass us,  they are good at it.  We will persevere.

LOL

You called that a snit?

You really need a dictionary sweet cheeks.

Asking for a more reliable source considering the one you gave is known to liberally edit videos.... [;)]

I can but why should I go looking for another article that will tell me the exact same thing.  Bloomberg went after the generators.  My question now is since when is it legal for the police to remove somebody's private property?

Sanity -> RE: This is just heartless (10/28/2011 7:32:49 PM)

Anything is more reliable than Huffington Post or thinkprogress there, dumpling

tazzygirl -> RE: This is just heartless (10/28/2011 7:35:14 PM)

I have yet to hear a charge about them (huffpo or thinkprogress) editing any videos.... nor a report that they have even been remotely accused of such... and breitbart admitted to his.

TreasureKY -> RE: This is just heartless (10/28/2011 7:37:14 PM)

Sheesh... can't we ever have one single thread where it doesn't devolve into sniping?  [&:]

littlewonder -> RE: This is just heartless (10/28/2011 7:40:19 PM)

When there has been suspicion of a crime or a public safety issue.

quote:

The FDNY cited safety issues as their major concern about the generators.

"In a public space, in a park like that, none of it can happen," said Jim Long, a spokesman for the FDNY. "You can not have containers of fuel, gas, diesel, or generators."

If that's the plan, they'll need to bring the good free food back in a hurry, with lots and lots of carbs on the menu. People power is expensive.

Heartless? Whose idea was it to start this movement at the end of summer, anyway? How cold-hearted were the motherfucking recruiters, or did they just not understand that the weather tends to just get nastier as autumn turns to winter?

I will take up arms to ensure these people have the right to do what they are doing, but if somebody decides to take the Cartman approach, and throw a free metalfest concert next door, look for me in the mosh pit. They selected the terms of their protest. There is no law against woolen long underwear, electric socks and those dumbass looking fleece snowboarder hats.

tazzygirl -> RE: This is just heartless (10/28/2011 7:55:18 PM)

I didnt say it was heartless... lol Im assuming they knew what they were doing by starting at this time of year.

I can't imagine anyone who would lose sleep about the piglets not sticking around for their periodic violations of human rights. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing them go back to actually enforcing laws which benefit society, and I'm not even involved in the protests.
