Now really. after infinite number of posts about every possible fucking negative vis a vis size or lack of it, something dawned on me this week.
A hell of a lot of chats & memo's I have had jack shit to do with kink but with every damned thing that's interesting.
Mebbeeeze we aint over educated but we do know some seriously good shit!
So I iz just sayin like innit that possibly we are thinkers like.

Apart from Lockit who just thinks about me.

i don't know about really qualifying as polymaths, but we sure as fuck have an opinion on anything and everything under the sun around here. [:D]

and i wouldn't use this board as any judge of the bdsm scene in general, this place has attracted a very unique collection of exceptionally bright people with wide and varied interests, that's the main reason i like it so fucking much. in one night you can discuss ass raping your girl, the best way to treat an ill cat, how to market sperm to a wider audience, and the nature of the time/space continuum. and that is pretty fucking cool, especially given the price of admission.

I hate the word math and every word that the word math shows up in.

To the op (checks self areas of expertise) Nope. I know a bunch of random stuff about a bunch of random stuff but would say I'm only an "expert" on maybe four or five things(only have a masters in one) so I'm not one of those. But it is oh so much fun thinking we are better than everyone else isn't it. It's really fun when we all have computers at our finger tips that make us look like we know things we don't really know. Yay for the internet allowing people to look smart.

Aargh, Ninebelowzero...

I am trying to read CollarMe's message boards while doing major surgery on two new Halloween outfits, one a Ren Faire type dress with corset in black velvet, and another a loin cloth [sm=modxiiswatching.gif] ...and I cannot open another window to some dictionary site to look up that word.

Would someone clue me in about what that word means?

I am already swiping spare [;)] fabric from my sub's loin cloth to fix my corset and if I get too distracted, who knows what will happen. [:D]

There's a number of people that are simply into learning about things, thinking about things and expanding their minds (mental stimulation). There's way more to life besides BDSM anyways (or is there? lol). I don't know about BDSM attracting Polymaths, because there sure are a lot of idiots, thoughtless, or otherwise clueless people drawn to it too.

I'm betting you'd find a similar range of topics with prettymuch any group of people you wrote to a few times a day for however long.

1. People into BDSM tend to be more erudite, in that they can challenge the norms.  They're also more aware - I assume that there are loads of people who would be into BDSM if they knew it existed but don't.
2. Collarme is composed of BDSMers who have computers and know how to use them.  Juts having the financial means to have a computer and the literacy to use it, separates us from a lot of the population.

i don't think kinky people are any smarter, any more aware, any "better" at XYZ than non-kinky people. like VC said, if you had an extended written communication with any group of people, you'd probably find that a lot of them are into quite a few things.
i, for one, just like to learn about stuff. i like to read. but i know plenty of vanilla people who read a heck of a lot more than i do and who could talk circles around me, and a good chunk of the people on this forum.

if there's one thing kinky people are pretty good at, it seems to be overestimating the value of the weird sex they have. =p

I don't like the word either, it's my math phobia.

I think these boards, in general, attract intelligent people with wide ranging interests as well as those who are, for lack of a better phrase, bat-shit crazy.
