Another thread brought this to mind...( and certain Maple Leaf bikinis) [:D] I grew up on the border. (Lynden/Abbottsford) Looking out a window, I could see Canada, or the ocean, or the mountains.. Every year at the Fair, they sang both National Anthems. Canadian flags flew next to American Flags. I lived there until 2003. Being Canadian was like... being blonde.. or Catholic, or short, or tall, etc.. just a minor descriptive. until 9-11 it was a very open border, and we enjoyed all that Canada had to offer, like: Tylenol 3's otc..lol and the beer.. stronger! ..and the drinking age 19 vs 21 ( it was easy to go across the border and drink.. very difficult to come home!) Twassesen Ferries ;) Stanley Park Vancouver Game Farm A certain asian garden.. MacIntosh Carmels.. Looneys and Tooneys (sp) as a child, i loved buying something with my American money, and getting the item.. and MORE money back in Canadian! We had field trips there in school, as did my children. 9-11 changed a lot. i received my first kiss, at 13, from a Canadian, and many years later, many BDSM 1sts from a Canadian.. (yum!) There is a west coast/east coast difference.. and now that I am in Louisiana, it is a whole different issue with the Acadians, and French Influence. I am enjoying learning the history here! What fond memories.. or differences do you appreciate? Or not? ~soumis~
