If there's no merit to the claims, where was there a financial settlement?

Do YOU usually write people a check for no reason?

I have fargle. Just to get someone to go the fuck away so I can do more productive things without them bugging the crap out of me for weeks on end.

In world of today you don't pay because you're guilty. You pay to make it go away quickly. Getting bogged down fighting false accusations can have the same impact as fighting something you're guilty of. How many false harassment charges does it take before people refuse to believe you could be innocent?

I could believe that if it was a single incident.

But twice?  With two separate financial settlements?

That starts to stretch the imagination.

Here is my doubt, Hill. The money was paid out of the organizations pocket... yet board members didnt know anything about it?

In  fairness to him, anyone at his level is more likely to have this than someone at your or my level.  And in Washington, harassment is papered over.  I don't think the harassment allegations will really hurt him politically, more than it did Thomas, but his reaction to it might hurt him.

Right now, he's seeing scrutiny more than he's ever known, and being crabby now will sink him.

I dislike Cain and what he stands for. Would never vote for him. But I have to agree with Steven. Being accused of shit like that is as common to a guy in power as wearing a suit, white shirt, and tie.

Hell, my former boss was accused of it AFTER I fired the twit, and I know he never did anything out of like with her.

Did he settle the claim?

Firm

She brought it up within the context of the unemployment hearing, just out of the blue. She was grasping for things to argue that she was fired unfairly. Add to the situation, her new boyfriend was still employed with us and she had no interest (and perhaps ability) to pursue further employment. So, to file formal charges against the company's owner would have been a case of cutting off her nose to spite her face.

Since she never went further, there was no need to deal with her accusations formally. She did win the unemployment claim but that is pretty easy to do, depending upon who hears the arguments.

Do you think a Board of Directors necessarily sees every petty expense payment?

Generally, unless they are project costs, or capital outlays, such things don't rise to the level of "Board attention".  It could have also been a petty HR fund for just such things.  It all depends on the laws of the state, and the rules of the corporation.

Or it could have been of such low concern that it wasn't a memorable event.

Well, your imagination is pretty good in coming up with all kinds of reasons and excuses that any Republican is evil, stupid, or incompetent.

The hit piece contains almost nothing other than supposition and innuendo, as I've already said.  Any claimant or supporting evidence is missing (or non-existent).  What we have are a group of people (who are named) who deny it, and some reporters "anonymous sources" who claim it - without documentation.

But here you are, condemning him.  Without the facts.

Pretty good imagination, looks like to me.

Maybe they should talk to Dan Rather about how to jimmy up some good documents?

No, I would think that such an allegation would reach their ears though. The potential for problems would be significant.

Let us be serious for a moment, there is absolutely no necessity for ANYONE to do a "hit-piece" on Cain....anyone engaged in such an activity is easily scared and probably an alarmist.
Cain is a non candidate, once folks start caucusing and voting he will go away. Not before he has banked a serious load of cash...seems Herman is on the NY Times bestsellers list...and from what I hear he is still accepting paid speaking fees....spending time on something other than his candidacy

Bullshit.

Someone who constantly posts about Obama's ties to wealthy donors and constantly criticizes him for it is now posting an article that praises Cain for doing the same thing.

And you find no pertinent connection between the two?

What was that term you always loved to use?

Oh yeah, confirmation bias.

This thread is about the accusations of sexual harassment about Cain.  Not about the Obama's fund-raising activities. Or about Sanity.

Try to stay on topic, rml.  I know that your inner child is just antsy as hell to attack any and all things Republican and conservative, but how about you learn to control it for a change?

If you think Sanity posted something about fund-raising, and you wish to discuss the fund-raising habits of politicians, I'd suggest another thread.

Yeah, well, we are both just guessing and talking out of our asses, because there is a dearth of actual facts.

From your previous link:

“Mr. Cain has never sexually harassed anyone,  period,” he said, adding that when he asked his boss of the allegations, he said “the story is not true. Bring me some facts. Bring me the accuser.”

Cain, 65, will address the allegations today, Block said.

Why don't we just wait and see what he has to say?

You may well be correct, mike.

It's still early in the process, so I'm not "deeply committed" to any one person.

Although I have already given more than one candidate contributions.

Firm, I have not said the man was guilty. I am merely thinking out loud so to speak.

And I would probably have tended to come down on his side had he not been shown to back peddle away from things he has said in the past.

That is between you and your Doctor, though I believe life begins at conception so they therefore should be illegal.....guess you will need to find a criminal doctor.....perhaps a criminal lawyer can refer you to one

Yanno, its pretty easy to lay harrassment accusations on anyone. Proof? Different deal.

But lets say old Hermie slipped the salami to these girls as he was feeling them up, would it then be ok in his mind for them to get an abortion?
