For one, "all their needs" is both broad and vague. What needs are we dependent on? Surely we're largely dependent on our government to make sure our communities are safe, our children are educated, and our roads are paved. Likewise, we depend on government to make sure poison isn't dumped into our sources of water and that working conditions are kept safe. And we depend on the government to protect us from other nations with the military. On the other hand, shouldn't we fairly expect to be dependent on such services? Would it even be sensible for these to be passed on to private enterprises? I'm not sure how comfortable I'd feel living in a nation with standardless private schools, private security firms busting criminals, and companies like Haliburton waging our wars.
