ORIGINAL: pahunkboy I would like to ask the questions. and/Or- lets grab a grocery clerk, a mom, an electrirican, and a senior citizen. Unscripted, unrehearsed. We the PEOPLE will ask the questions. Who is with me? The only real question I would like to see asked, is "Will you do what the people want you to do and forget your own personal agenda"? I have stated before and will stick to the thought, that politicians have forgot that they are public servants, they are supposed to promote the thoughts, wishes and desires of the people in their constituency and put their own feelings aside. If they would do this...then their view is of no consequence, only their character and ability to carry out that task. I actually disagree with you on this. We don't live in a "pure" democracy for a reason. Our republican system (no relation to the party) was designed so this wouldn't happen. Mob rule was one of the things we're supposed to avoid. I'm against anything that encourages a flat rule of the majority. I would say just make them promise to enforce the Constitution, but they all already committ perjury when they take oaths of office to do so. *meow* And you certainly have the right to disagree..not a problem, but if this is in fact true, if the wants and needs of the people don't really count, then we have certainly been led astray by the founders of this country. Myself...I will prefer to keep my belief that somewhere in the depths of our society, there still is some remnant to the addage, "of the people, by the people, for the people". Personally I'm not concerned if someone filling the role as a "Representative" of mine has personal thoughts on subject "X", all I care is that he votes in favor of the way the majority feel about it. I guess if that makes me in favor of the mob mentality...I can accept that, but I'll be damned if I accept that it's supposed to be totally out of the people's control. That is the type of thought that provokes revolutions.
