So I got IE8.

Now, when I mark text to copy from a post it automatically quotes it in the reply window. I don't want that. If I want to use box style quoting I will click quote instead of reply.

Also IE6 used to autorefresh when I hit back to collarchat using the lil arrow thingie. I found the corresponding button, but when I go back it does not refresh.

What I really don't know is if this is caused by forum software or what. IE8 also seems not to have cleared up the apostrophe issue in cmail.

Everything is working fine as far as I can tell. I wonder though, if there is a way to turn off some of this automatic shit, and turn on others. I looked all over in the program, and I didn't find anything that sounded like what I want in control panel either. Is there some other way to set this thing or is it one of those take it or leave it deals ?

for the automatic quote thing, just hit reply and then highlight and copy.

as for the page not refreshing, well that's because it is reading it from your fucking cache.

go to internet options, on the security tab click custom level and under the miscellaneous heading allow meta refresh. that should fucking do it for you.

Well I don't know about Termy but mine has a habit of reading them as &#apos instead of ', can't remember the name for the code, though I've never noticed it do it with others (&#quot = ", 𐀸 = : )

I may have the codes wrong of course, that's just from memory rather than google

IE always pulls from the cache when you click the "Back" button. Even selecting "Every visit to the page" in Settings will not force a reload when you use the "Back" button, at least not in any IE version of recent vintage. And there is no meta-refresh tag in collarchat's HTML.

I found it better than IE8. The latter was a bit of a turkey, from most accounts. I have to use IE for some of my work. IE9's, well, bearable.

that would be &apos, which is xhtml code, and you're fucked. ie doesn't do xhtml, so there is, as far as i know, nothing you can do about it except use a decent browser.

and then again you're fucked. you could always set your temporary internet file storage space to 0, which will force a reload. or, of course, you could use a decent browser.

sorry guys, but there really isn't a fucking thing that can be done about these issues other than to use a fully functional browser.

A workaround, of sorts, is to use an asterisk instead. Irritating, but a lot better than seeing that series of characters.

or you could download and install a copy of firefox, chrome, opera, or safari - all of which are fucking free. or any number of minor browsers.

i simply cannot comprehend why anybody would ever use ie, it just makes no sense whatsoever. not only is it not a fully functional browser, it is also full of security holes so big you could drive a fucking panzer division through them.

I may be mistaken, but I seem to remember that this apostrophe issue was XP related. At least, I don't have the issue running IE9 under Windows 7.

no, it is ie based, ie 6, 7, & 8 if i recall correctly, but maybe not ie6, i don't recall for sure and can't be fucking bothered looking it up. if anybody on earth is still running ie6 then they fucking well deserve whatever grief they get. they may have gotten around to fixing it in #9 <about fucking time, eh?>

well they didn't know what the fuck they were talking about. we regularly surf the site with all the browsers i mentioned. we never, NEVER use ie except in a complete fucking emergency. its been pooched off of most of the systems here, and the girls are not allowed to even open it without my specific permission.

internet explorer is a fucking disaster.

I used to have the same problem with "&apos" showing up when I typed an apostrophe as I have Windows XP but I haven't noticed it at all since I started using Google Chrome....Chrome is so much better! I was a bit stubborn to change from IE but so glad I did...It is easier to keep track of your favorites or bookmarks and change them too.

I dont think so, let me explain ok..
i have used FF, Chrome, Opera, etc.... & non of them works like a magic in every way I want it to for example:
1- when i need to go to my bank account or sotck market IE will have some java like others but I dont have to install "sun java" I use small of VM java made by Microsoft, which dose not eat my CPU usage, & i dont have to hit F5 every freeking 5 seconds to keep up, IE works on that like a spell.
2- when I use IE listen to radio, see pictures slide show, which i cold`t do in any other in the same CPU usage, FF always heating up my CPU like it was on fire which is corrcet..... at least for my case.
3- chrome, which is a "lame ass" dont have an internet options menu, so someone like me can not work on it UNLESS IE is installed which "chrome will take options from IE" in other way " Chrome takes orders from IE".
4- when i sufe into some new site that requires some kind of "plug-in or add-on" IE let me know & do not take me to FF add-on search & cost me a lot of time searching for a "cockie editor", I hade to make it by java script, which was a very very pain in my butt.
- there was a study about some hackers hacking into Browsers, & it toke a groupe of them 30 seconds to hack into IE, 15 minutes to hack into FF, 30 minute to hack into Chrome..., but in my case i use a " hardwere firewall" & 2 switches with firewall in them that is 3 in a row, not braging just to clear its more difficalt to hack into some PC hocked to Switches & something will give me new IP every 5 m second or so.
Chrome always comes in a beta formation, & not alfa,
bottom line is ..... IE is the best one for my case

FR <(ETA that)

OK, I'lll just burn this thing. If I have to download one fucking more piece of software, and apparently they are pieces, I will burn myself. I've used other browsers and fuckum. Maybe I'll just forget it and use the PC for DLing. Become a couch potato. Microshaft shoves so much down people's throats it's not funny.

Maybe I should just go back to IE6, fuck it. I don't like the name "chrome", I think Firefox is shit and Mozilla, I don't know. Opera is for MACS, and anything else can go fuck itself. You fucking watch, warn me about viruses. Wait until I just run the fucking thing off a CDROM. Bulletproof.

I am starting to figure out how to do this, but on one of my laptops using Linux. Access the HD and load drivers (not the easiest to find sometimes). The OS is untouchable, period. How many things can't it do ? Well even with MEPIS which is over ten years old it could use files that XP couldn't. It could drive hardware that XP couldn't.

I think if you people are going to tell me to get out of IE, maybe I should just get out of windows period ! Every revision gives me less of what I want and more automatic SHIT that I don't. More nags and warnings out the ass, but no real solutions. Updates and shit all the time, same way with the lameo sheeple virus programs. The only one even worth a shit is AVG and I won't even load that. It ain't worth free to me !

So no version of IE is worth shit..... I guess I can accept that.
