Arpig -> RE: How did you get your title? (7/19/2006 10:54:22 PM)

My title was granted me by universal acclaim after about 25 years.

What title is that you ask...Mr.

wandering4u -> RE: How did you get your title? (7/20/2006 3:11:47 AM)

The only title that matters is the one I earn. All the rest are just forms of address that show respect

IronBear -> RE: How did you get your title? (7/20/2006 7:53:09 AM)

Depends on which Title you are refering to....... Hereditary? Academic? Military? Lodge? Or Gorean?

Good point - Academic, military, lodge are earned and to me represent something I would wish to be known by

Hereditary  and Gorean are beyond my ken to intelligently respond to.

The "Sir" part of My nickname was partly adopted so that I could go to message boards where speaking of BDSM was "taboo" and could attract private conversations with others in the lifestyle.  It is a calling card so to speak, a way to meet others of like mind.  It was also the title given to Me by My first sub.

thegunslinger -> RE: How did you get your title? (7/21/2006 10:26:21 AM)

Titles, I believe are earned in the lifestyle just as many other places. While they mean something different, such as in a military application, one rule remains. If you didn't really have to work to get the title, not a lot of other people are going to respect you.

mstrj69 -> RE: How did you get your title? (7/21/2006 4:45:16 PM)

My comment to a submissive is if you want to call me sir, fine but do so with out the capital s as that is just showing respect.  Capitallizing it means I have earned it in your eyes.  I gained my initial sir through the military.  If I am exchanging emails, I address her by her first name and sign it with my first name.  I am of the opinion no one deserves a title just because it is what they think they should have.  They have to be earned.

IronBear -> RE: How did you get your title? (7/21/2006 7:13:10 PM)

I'd agree gunslinger with the exception of heridatory titles. However as I was taught and trained, you may be born with the right to rule but you better damned well earn the right to command. The military of two countries did that for me..

hispossession -> RE: How did you get your title? (7/21/2006 11:06:32 PM)

my Master started off with having me call him by a different title... one that was commonly used by lots of people so I could use it publicly without raising eyebrows...

after we started talking potential relationship he decided (after my proving myself competent to follow orders and directions) that I had earned the right to call him Master.  For me it felt totally natural and comfortable.  When it is inappropriate to call him Master I don't often call him anything but simply answer him without a title since he says I am able to convey my feelings of submission to him with my eyes and posture and the tone of my voice...

with my Sir it just slipped out and he never corrected me or suggested somthing different for me to call him...

I think that the feelings behind the title are what are the most important thing.

I refer to my Master by his given name (for simplicity's sake when discussing people in my life with people who just wouldn't understand our relationship) but my submission, respect  and devotion to him and my love for him are evident in my voice and expression... and they're commented on (with the exception of the submission).

popeye1250 -> RE: How did you get your title? (7/24/2006 7:52:37 PM)

Yeah, I always wondered about that too!
I don't have any type of "Title"
We've all seen them you know like :"Sir Master Dragon Breath Ruler of the Great Eastern Asshole Empire" or some nonsense like that.
Is that one of those "Gorean" things or something?

SavageEu -> RE: How did you get your title? (7/25/2006 12:22:16 AM)

I have to say that picking the title is up to the dom, I am leaning toward Shishou, sort of a japanese equivelent of Master and Teacher. Earning the title though. I would tell my potential pet what I would like to be called if she felt that I had earned it or wanted to say it. I think I would feel a bit silly if I just kinda crowned myself king so to speak. There is little meaning in that. Though I generally use Master as sort of a generic 'This person owns someone' type of title. I can understand some feeling that a title is pretty meaningless since it only has meaning to my Pet and as a show of respect for others who wish to be called 'Lord whateverbottom'. I won't begrudge them that.

I like formality though, so in my head its my rules :)

Tamerofwild1s -> RE: How did you get your title? (7/25/2006 8:55:18 AM)

as is with me . I did not give myself the title of Master . it was given to me by several slaves over a long period of time .. and for the most part I have been addressed as Daddy ..... just me. my ID's very rarely say Master in it ...

Wolfie648 -> RE: How did you get your title? (7/27/2006 3:45:41 AM)

"After being in the lifestyle a while, I realize that there are different titles like, Sir, Master and my personal favorite, My Lord.  But how are these arrived?  Do you just wake up one morning and decide that you are a DOM and therefore need a title that let's everyone know that or was it given to you by a submissive after much care and love? "

Yeh I definately let my sub define me and my title. It makes me feel warm. Oooh yeh and cuddly..

Other than that I went to the universal school of dominoloilgy at planet mars and unlearned everything they taught me.

Enjoy!!

How did I get my title?  The bitches took a vote.

Strict56 -> RE: How did you get your title? (7/27/2006 6:32:03 AM)

A title is between the Dom and the sub. I never require a title unless the sub is collared to me. My view is there is too much "Yes Master" etc. Just because he is a Dom does not mean he has earned the right or privalige to be called a title. A title, like respect, must be earned.
