They put out thanksgiving things here the day after halloween or sometimes with the halloween things. There is a store now that has three rows. One is left over halloween. One is thanksgiving. One is christmas. But as children we were taught that you put up home made things on thanksgiving(if not every other holiday) It is a time to do things with the kids and the rest of the family.

Using FR..........as far as the Xmas OD in stores. I have a perfect solution.........DON'T GO TO THE STORES!

It is a solution that has been working for me for quite a number of years now.

I fucking love love LOVE Thanksgiving!!!!!!! It is MY DAY! My holiday most favourite. The day I can cook myself silly and there are ZERO expectations except getting the family together and enjoying one anothers' company.

While the grand kids tear through the huge stack of Xmas catalogues that are collecting around my house, deciding exactly what ALL they wish to get for Xmas. And chances are, they won't get any of it.........because they've already got too much fucking shit.

I probably should have added a few more 'fucking's but I am feeling rather rushed at the moment.

This,I fucking( hi Hannah..lol) love Thanksgiving, great food, family and football...without the presents pressure of Christmas...what is not to like.

Holidays are not holidays if you have to work.

I couldn't agree more. Too many retail businesses are so greedy they don't hesitate to ruin holidays for their employees every year. Anyone who complains about it is told they should feel grateful to even have a job. If a family member dies during the next year and a worker was forced by a greedy company to miss spending their family member's last holiday with them or get fired....oh well. Then businesses stupidly wonder why employees have negative attitudes. Essential services like hospitals, nursing homes, and fire departments don't have a choice. There's no reason for it in retail or manufacturing plants. If businesses that don't provide essential services want employee loyalty, they need to stop ruining the holidays of their workers.

Sorry to disappoint, LaTigresse...

No "granny panties" for me....

And I wouldn't be caught alive or dead having an ample ass.

But if you're looking for one, there's certainly a ton of them on this website to choose from!

thishereboi -> RE: Where did Thanksgiving go?? (11/10/2011 5:25:23 AM)

I was in Kroger yesterday and they had a whole display set up with thanksgiving stuff. Maybe the stores near you are just slow this year.

I work at Target. We don't really have anything for Thanksgiving - i am pretty disappointed XD

MistressSnow -> RE: Where did Thanksgiving go?? (11/10/2011 11:59:12 AM)

In my opinion, Thanksgiving is the last non-commercial holiday. One that family, good food, and quite times (hopefully) dominates. It is fast becoming my FAV holiday. Used to love Halloween, but it is becoming a commercial money making holiday for the corp giants. *sucks*

While I don't disagree that Halloween is getting more comercialized it is still one of my favorite holidays for one simple reason: any holiday that encourages you to go out and meet your neighbors is a good holiday.

So far this week I have been in Meijers, Kroger, Walmart, and Target and so far not a single one of those major outlets has anything for Thanksgiving! Instead they are all playing Christmas carols, have Christmas lights and displays up and look at you like an idiot if you ask about Thanksgiving decorations. *sigh* Yeah, it is not as popular as Halloween or Christmas but damnit I would at least like to have the option of buying something in a store that is related to Thanksgiving!

No need to explain to me why this is happening or why the city I work at had Christmas lights up on their poles the day after Halloween. I am a business major and understand the marketing and resource reasons behind it. So I am just a bit sad by it all as it seems like we are losing the holiday spirit for Thanksgiving. Hopefully I am not the only one out there who noticed this or feels this way. But then again, maybe I am! lol

Huh?
