A Portland woman and her friend got someone in my county to give them a horse, an old family pet. Instead of taking care of the animal, as they allegedly promised, they shot it, crawled inside it (yep, she was channeling Luke Skywalker) and eventually ate it. It wasn't cruel, it wasn't illegal, but, and I can't explain why, it certainly skeezes me out. The people I think are most disgusting? The family that would give some stranger their old family pet without checking to make sure the animal was going to a good home. Fuckers. Here is a link discussing the story, which has attracted a lot of attention, naturally. My advice? Don't look at the pictures. Yes, WTF. It is one of the most bizarre things I have ever heard, and I have been involved in animal cruelty and other animal related cases for 15 years. And ashjor, I told you not to look at the pictures. I wasn't kidding. Sick fucks. I would like to punch the former owners of that poor horse in the face.

Probably they sold it (or gave it away) because it would cost $300 to $500 to have it euthanized, and they would then have to pay the renderer to take it away. Assholes, what a way to treat a pet.

the pictures weren't all that fucking bad, she has a nice ass and the shot of her from behind covered in blood is pretty fucking hot. but they probably weren't the best fucking idea in the final analysis. what the fuck, people are fucking sick, hell we're all fucking sick. anyway i agree that its somehow wrong, but, like the fucking deputies in the story, i can't for the life of me find an actual viable reason why it is. so i'm just going to have to put it down to sick fuckers who are sicker than me. then again they probably think the same thing about us and the shit we do. also, as an aside, it doesn't say the horse was a pet anywhere in the story, only that it was 32, dying, and scheduled to be knackered anyway. and the sickos did that humanely, so all the "beloved pet" stuff is just fucking speculation, and misplaced as well, they sold it to somebody who put it down humanely. what the fuck more do you want out of the previous owners?

C'mon, if you have done animal cruelty cases, you know that these people completely dupe others into believing they are going to take wonderful care of the animal. And yes, it was gross, and although an "asipiring model," it is doubtful these pictures would help her portfolio at all. Also, as much as I dislike PETA, it is people like this crazy couple that you want to send them after.

Well, we can only hope that whatever the horse was dying from is contagious. [sm=eeew.gif] By the way, when I tried to look at the site given on the OP I got a warning from Comcast that it was a malicious site. But the story is easy to find elsewhere online.

The American attitude towards horse meat has reached the point where most people won't even buy dog food anymore when it's got horse meat in it. It makes no sense at all... Meat is meat, and if you're so compassionate about the horses, why not about all the EXTRA cows that now need to be slaughtered to fulfill the demand for meat that the market has, when perfectly good horse meat is thrown away instead of being used properly. I really don't get how people can make sense of the line of thinking so many seem to have: "I love animals; I love horses, they are my friends; I don't want to eat my friends; therefor I'm going to have perfectly good meat of animals who lived a long, good and fulfilling life be thrown away and have a bunch of cows raised in crappy little feedlots instead -never being allowed the freedom a horse enjoys- to make up for the difference; cows are food anyways, so it doesn't matter if a bunch more of them suffer because of my actions, as long as nobody eats my precious friends; because I LOVE animals!" So please, do explain to me... why exactly does it upset you that she did this to a HORSE instead of the fact that she did this to an ANIMAL being upsetting?

that is a really interesting perspective; people do it with dogs and cats, too, of course. we think the people who eat dog or cat are barbaric, because we "love animals" -- but what about the cows and chickens and pigs? aren't they animals? =p i'm a vegetarian, though. but i have often wondered, why some animals are so special, and other animals can be mistreated and killed and discarded and wasted and it's "business as usual." i imagine if it had been a cow carcass, no one would've cared really. =p

The article says nothing about who owned it..only the town in which it was purchased. Its disgusting but the animal was put down humanely..what happened afterwards is gross but the animal WAS dead so i wouldn't consider it cruelty as such. How on earth would whoever sold it have a clue as to what was going to happen to it? If we can't guarantee children are adopted into good families then how on earth can we make sure every animal is adopted or sold to good people?...i do however agree..its disgusting and these people are whack jobs for sure...ewwwww.
